Is this good or bad news? We had raised “almost $300 million” when this was announced - are we only at $300M now? (I don’t know what the timeline or giving rate for these things typically is.)
- Georgia Tech has raised $300 million out of its $500 million goal to enhance the university's athletic facilities.
- The campaign began in October and construction is set to start in 2026.
Just to clarify, it's not unlimited free alcohol, it's a finite number of complimentary no extra charge drinks (probably two per game, just like the current club policy). No way they could shelter from the liability of an unlimited free alcoholic beverage policy, especially when it's in writing.$10K spread over 5 years. Unlimited alcohol. It seems GTAA is under the impression I can't drink $2K/year in alcohol at home games.
Is this remaining on the 50 yard line on the lower west? Not a rumor, direct quote from my ticket agent when I spoke to him to learn more (I had seen a "recommended donation"). $10k per seat for normal club (can be spread over 5 years). $20k for the new speakeasy (limited to 250 tickets). Tech fund for club going up to "$1500-2000" per year as well on top of that. The $10k is not a PSL - you do not own anything, can't sell it back later. It is a donation to a scholarship fund. When asked what was to stop them from doing it again, 5 years down the road, I was simply told that they wouldn't do that again until they did another major construction project that required reseating. Was also told that anyone who gets club tickets at a later date would also be required to pay the 10k, so it's not like you would get a deal by waiting.
Now, for the 10k and increased Tech fund, you do get nicer chairbacks (think wider and padded apparently) and you get all you can eat food and beverage, including alcohol.
Agreed. Having the club seats in the dead center of the TV shots is a really bad look.Is this remaining on the 50 yard line on the lower west?
If so, I don't understand why Tech insists on giving up the tight sideline home field advantage. We have one of the tightest sidelines in college football, but between the 30s on the visitor sideline, we give up 50% of our home field advantage. And the half-vacant club seats are in more than half the game's camera shots. It's a bad look, and it's a bad tradeoff in competition.
Take out upper rows of the lower west and build more suites away there. Lower the first 7 rows of seating around the entire stadium by two feet and put the students there.
We could be transformative but instead we keep refining what's already been done. Typical. Frustrating.
Seems like we’re stuck with it given the sunk cost of building the club lounge under the east stands, unfortunately.Agreed. Having the club seats in the dead center of the TV shots is a really bad look.
Only if you fall for the sunk cost fallacy.Seems like we’re stuck with it given the sunk cost of building the club lounge under the east stands, unfortunately.

I was told no more drink tickets. Wristband gets you free food, beer and wine. Wallet doesn't have to leave the pocket. Evaluating future expenses/losses is rational. Those are separate from the sunk cost, which have been incurred whether you move the club or not. Sunk costs should not be included in the evaluation, which is the meaning of the term "sunk cost fallacy."Not really, because you'd have the additional cost of buildings all new lounges on the other side of the stadium. Or you'd have the loss of whatever ongoing revenue we're expecting the already-built lounges to produce.
I got an easy solution, at least it would help, have alcohol vendors walk the stands in the club section. Keep the fans in their seats. They did away with TV live feeds of the game inside the club, and that helped. Also, bring back the piss trough, but this time have one on every row.Agreed. There’s something brewing.
That logo replaces the GT at centerfield. Note what’s new in the renderings.
#9 GDP ranked metro area in the country. They need to step it WAY up. We don't need more seats, we need more expensive seats filled with people who want to be there. That was part of it but most around me were students with parents.
We need more group sales. BSA, local schools, marching bands, cheerleader, etc. Not sure our front office operations are at the level they need to be to work such things.
I like this. Leave the seats near the field as "non club" and have the club higher up and behind glass. If I got to design the Club section it would be like suites. No one would have an assigned seat, there'd be about half the number of regular seats as people, and you could watch the game from "the club area" while standing or seated at high top tables. The people who want to watch the game would sit in the regular seats and the people who want to "tailgate inside the game" can do so too. If done right it maximums tickets revenue and wouldn't look bad on TV with empty seats. Also, bring back the pee trough.
