fumble fest

I had not considered this, but you may be right. That still doesn't explain why Jaybo gets hit behind the line more than others.

That's just because he's slower.

Washington has better ability. He's no Nesbitt yet, but he's got a lot more potential than Shaw. If we need a substitute to try and not lose the game for us if Nesbitt goes down, then hopefully Shaw can cut it, but if we need a substitute that's going to try and bring us back from a deficit, I think you have to go with Washington.

Hopefully we have a healthy QB all year and it's no big deal.

I think as of now Shaw would be the 2 guy just because of experience. But no doubt Tevin has a ton of potential. Good find by CPJ and staff.

I'm not anointing anyone, but anyone who claims that Jaybo is "clearly" ahead of Tevin, or "by far and away" the #2 guy, wasn't watching on T day. We will lose starting Jaybo vs anyone good this year. We may lose starting Tevin vs anyone good this year. That's the difference between the two in my eyes.

Just like people who are saying Jaybo is clearly ahead of Tevin based on the spring game, your statement regarding losing with Jaybo vs. possibly losing with Tevin, is completely baseless.

Unless you are using other non-spring game information, the spring game did not clarify this either way, because like I said, Tevin was playing against a weaker defense. That automatically makes a direct comparison of the two's performance worthless.

FSU. Jaybo had two major problems vs FSU, neither of which have been corrected.

One was letting one guy blow the 3O up by covering both him and the pitch, getting in the way of the pitch and then tracking him down post haste before he got upfield. That's still happening.

The other was fumbling way too much, particularly when he gets whalloped by bigger defensive players. That's still happening.

Washington may or may not be worse than Jaybo, but Jaybo will lose vs FSU or Georgia unless he fixes those two things, and those two things are still happening. Washington might lose.

Nesbitt won't lose. Lets hope Nesbitt stays healthy.

Good points. Agreed that Jaybo needs to still make a lot of improvement.

Unless Josh has digressed since last year, he is clearly the best QB in the team. On the contrary, I think he will have improved by leaps and bounds by the fall.

However, Josh's injuries are a real concern. I am sure no one is more frustrated with the missed practices than he is. On the bright side, he has already had more practice this Spring, than he had all of last preseason (missing the entire spring, and some of the Fall with injury).

The Beast Smurf?

I am really impressed by Marcus Wright. I remember an A-back carry yesterday where Marcus Wright took down 1 lineman, got up, and cut block another lineman to the ground, giving the A-back a great gain to the 5 yd. line.

Pretty incredible.

Exactly. I defended Jaybo last year after poor performance against FSU and UNC since he was a true freshman. It'll be very hard to do so again especially if similar mistakes are being made. It sounds like though our team in general (except maybe the kicking game) has made a decent stride from last year. Would have loved to have seen Josh in action but glad he's got a least a few weeks of Spring practice in.

Damn, can't wait 'til September.

After seeing Allen, Dwyer, Watson, peeples, Wright and Lyons where will Lucas fit in at?

Also it looks like Allen will just be playing A back.

Someone here mentioned that Sewak thinks we'll go 6 deep at A back, so he'll certainly see time in the rotation there. PJ says he's likely to be a great B Back, so he may see time there.

It does look like it. It's probably for the best anywho since it seems like he has gotten better at that position since they stopped putting him at B back. Also Watson and Lyons having great springs probably helped in that decision.

All these opinions about Shaw and Washington remind me of the joke CPJ told that a coach who listens to the fans will soon be sitting with them. For once, I really have confidence that our coach will make the best judgment decision about who to play. That doesn't mean we won't lose games with our 2nd string QB, but nobody is in a better position to decide who to play than Johnson. That decision might be between the lesser of two evils, but too many fans are ready to give up on a player based on one performance.

I don't have a clue if Allen is only an A back, but don't put too much on one spring game. The last thing I saw from PJ was he was still thinking about it and AA played both in practice all spring.

I might just have selective memory, but at the weekend scrimmages I saw, him was primarily played at A back. However this doesn't occur scrimmages during weekday practices.

for the people that were at the game or watched the highlight reel on ramblinwreck.com is it me or are the gold jerseies rubbing off and becoming the second best uni combo we have behind white/white

yeah they look like a modernized version of the throwbacks we were against uva. mostly because its the closest to tech's actual gold

yeah but thats not the point.the pants wouldn't ne bad if it had like a different stripe or something

navy pants??

Gee, another uniform thread, Wally!

I actually thought they were wearing the throwbacks for awhile. They were that close. I liked them with the white pants. Very sharp. However, I've heard they aren't even going to make a gold jersey this year.
