Future of Upper North Stands?

Why build something like that right at the corner of the stadium? I just do not get the structural design planning around the stadium over the past 20+ years. Georgia Tech, of all places, should have better architectural designing for BDS and the surrounding area.
I think it would look pretty cool. :dunno:

(Not saying it's the best use of the money, of course.)

You have to consider the debt won't be repaid before humans become extinct.
The meteor I prayed to hit the UGAg/Ohio State game isn't an extinction event for anything other than two scumbag football programs

Now that they sell beer at BDS, I think they should turn the upper north into some kind of a beer garden area. Put tiered areas for small tables and some covered areas for shade. Instead of a bunch of empty seats, it would be a casual party area with a view of the skyline.

I’ve been saying the same for a couple years now. Put up a burger stand and a CFA stand. Sell some beer, put out tables like they have in MBS club zone. You could even do a private entrance off the north end zone for package deals

The GT stadium that maximizes revenue & attendance is probably somewhere around 40,000 seats. That’s my guess. The ideal situation would be a double decker bowl or a bowl with a large wall like Autzen but I don’t know how realistic that is with our ticket sales.

Turning the upper north into a similar situation as the lower south would be a good way to expand the AA and get some high value tickets into the stadium. If you built out the plaza on the north end zone you could have something cool like a museum, dining, etc. like the Packers do.

Alright here’s my solution. We make a banner that goes across the top 10-15 rows that says age or YELLOW JACKETS. we put a platform at the top with a giant steam whistle and we launch fireworks from the top of the upper north and crank up the whistle with all kinds of smoke when Tech scores. For a big game you offer tickets where the banner is when the rest sell our.
So we’re basically the Oakland colosseum of CFB

So, based on the link above, I actually take this back. Comparing the rendering in the article to the current BDS seating chart, it looks like most of section 219 is sliced off. (I count 5.2 sections after the NW "curve" and there are currently 6 sections in the upper North.) Interesting.

Why are we building this? How does a new edge center improve GT Athletics results (wins), and couldn’t we be using that $150M more effectively to drive results (wins)?

This was all part of the branding initiative, to make people like GT better. Think about that: to make folks feel better about MA Tech. Is she getting so old and decrepit that she's now worried what people will say about her?

TBH, I hate GT. GT abused me, shafted me, stretched me, laughed at me, and called me names. But I prevailed. As a result, I now have the greatest respect for GT. I have even greater respect for S-A's who have to perform both in the classroom and on the field with excellence.

Why we feel compelled to slam that ginormous building right next to a stadium already landlocked and without enough space I'll never know. But we apparently are. Years ago, we tore down a large part of the stadium to avoid code violations. Even now we cannot really upgrade the largest stands for fear of code violations. The UE is a walking fit of claustrophobia just to get concessions or go to the head. Yet we decide to build a big, brand new administrative building, I guess so folks can walk out of that piece of new shiny bait into the oldest on-campus college stadium in the US - that we apparently don't have enough shekels to bring up to date code-wise. I dunno. All I can do is shrug.
