Gator Bowl not happy...

GTROY,

Then how do you explain Notre Dame? I think John has you on this one.

Either way, both of you show up in Jacksonville and resolve this jinx.

By the way, I emailed Gene Frenette, who wrote the article that started this thread. He replied with some information that might not be known.

The Gator Bowl is pissed at Swofford alone. He made promises and then didn't sign the official papers. They have been ok with GT's attendance in the past. I also sent him a blurb about the 1956 game where Dodd helped them out, that he found interesting. Look for some of that in an article leading up to the game.

Also, the Gator Bowl Selection Chairman, Mike Hartley was the one who spoke out about not wanting Georgia Tech. According to Gene he was admonished for it and actually feels bad that he let too much slip to a South Carolina newspaper that was inquiring about the Gator. Much of that controversy in the week before the ACCCG was because our brethren down I-85 were trying to scoop us for the Gator if we lost. We need to watch our backs or we will have Tigger Paws all over them.

Gene appears to be pretty close to the Gator Bowl officials, so his information is probably correct about the money. He also agreed that the ACCCG won't stay in Jacksonville.

Yeah, he's definitely got me beat. That's why I had to use the weak "away game" argument.

I would love to go to the Gator bowl this year, but I unfortunately spent all the money I had going to the ACC Championship last weekend. I guess I could always use the tuition money for next semester...

Roy don't forget the GT/Louisville basketball game in March Madness.

Nice job "92".

Please let us know if the Bobby Dodd information is referenced in advance of the GB by Mr. Frenette.

Thanks, I thought the Gator Bowl had not treated us correctly and he answered quickly and brought facts, including that we have not been seeded correctly several times. He and the Gator Bowl are angry with Swofford, not Tech, which is why they did the honorable thing in the end.
