GIBBS AP 2nd team AA

Just confirms what we already knew -- he's a special player. The type of guy who should have been getting mentioned in the same breath as Calvin and JT a decade from now.

Will be interesting to see where had lands and what he does next season.

Not meaning to be an ass here and I like(d) Gibbs, but where did all the yardage come from? I saw all the games, attending all the home games. All I remember were his long runs getting called back for penalties, a -10 (or was it +10) yard game, and waving off a kickoff he had to scramble to recover. Our tailgates are always epic, and I arrive to the games on time, just not sober. So, there’s that, but Gibbs, Mason and Smith seemed interchangeable. Where are the accolades com8ng from?

He did amazing despite our coaching staff and offensive line. He is an elite player that will probably get drafted in the first two rounds. He deserves better than what we could have given him, hence the transfer. The accolades are surprising, because the the support system around him was less than adequate. If only those awesome tailgates you had translated to more wins.

Didn't Smith have more YPC than Gibbs?

Here's the article - https://ramblinwreck.com/gibbs-named-all-america/

Gibbs led Georgia Tech with 746 rushing yards and ranked second on the squad with 470 receiving yards in 2021. Combined with his 589 kickoff-return yards, he averaged 150.4 all-purpose yards per game, which currently ranks third nationally. His 1,805 total all-purpose yards were good for second in Georgia Tech single-season history, and he became just the sixth NCAA Division I FBS player since 2000 and the first since Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey in 2015 with 700 rushing yards, 450 receiving yards and 550 kickoff yards in a single season.

A lot of kick return yardage.

Because our opponents were kicking off against us a lot all year.

Not so many punt returns.

imagine where he'd be with an actual offensive line tho...:ugh: 1st team next year most likely if healthy
I'm just wondering who he will invite to the Heisman award ceremony next year. I figure Choice and no one else from our staff. And Choice will of course be decked out in Southern Cal bling.

Thanks, Geoffrey.

A long time ago, decades before Collins, I made the observation never to trust someone who pronounces their name "Jeff" but spells it with British spelling. Unless they are actually British which is fine. Collins doesn't have a British bone in his body.

He wouldn’t be 2nd team AA if he’d gone wherever he’s going to start with

--our lost RB made 2nd team AP all purpose player AA. Good for him
That player portal is going to further kill “college” football.

Georgia Tech is going to see more than its fair share of players use that ridiculous player portal to better their football careers. Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I think he should have stayed one more year at GT and finished his college commitment.

Also, i’m sick and tired of the chicken shi- NFL players Union restricting these players to two years of college football. You should be eligible for the NFL draft after your senior year of high school.
