GIBBS AP 2nd team AA

Not meaning to be an ass here and I like(d) Gibbs, but where did all the yardage come from? I saw all the games, attending all the home games. All I remember were his long runs getting called back for penalties, a -10 (or was it +10) yard game, and waving off a kickoff he had to scramble to recover. Our tailgates are always epic, and I arrive to the games on time, just not sober. So, there’s that, but Gibbs, Mason and Smith seemed interchangeable. Where are the accolades com8ng from?

I know what you mean. I watched every game he played and attended most of them, but while he looked talented, I never got the sense that he was the kind of dominant player that could put a team on his back. It’s like he sort of quietly racked up a lot of yards somehow.

Couldn’t care less where he goes. I don’t wish him any ill will or anything, just don’t really care what he does from this point on. I’m not rooting for him or gonna have his next team as my 2nd favorite or whatever bullshit.

Just like I don’t care about whoever was USC’s starting RB this let year. Gibbs will be fine. If he becomes a Falcon one day, I’ll pull for him but that’s doubtful.

Gibbs is one of the best players in the nation. Losing him is huge. There's no way around it.

That being said, I do think we might be impacted less by him leaving than another team, as we have (had?) such a solid RB group.

One thing that always gets lost in the Pitt game is that he still had 115 total net yards from scrimmage, since he had 125 yard receiving. The overall stat line wasn't video game numbers or anything, but it wasn't bad. It probably reflects more poorly on the OL than it does on Gibbs.

So you're saying the NCAA is about to bring the hammer down on us.
The punishment doled out to Reggie Bush and USC makes ours look tame. Making the school sever all ties with him? Removing his likeness from the school and remove references to him? Not allowing him back on campus in any kind of official capacity? I believe he also had to surrender his Heisman, which I don't know how the NCAA has authority to do that

Reggie Bush was a great running back. Just 100% pure perfect athlete.

I'd love to know what his numbers were without penalties, our OL absolutely killed him.

Ever since I first opened this thread, my autocorrect keeps trying to change Gibbs to GIBBS and I do not understand this

The operative word here is HAD. The running back "room" (I hate that motherööööing expression), as constituted now is ööööed - as is the entire program, for that matter .

Also, i’m sick and tired of the chicken shi- NFL players Union restricting these players to two years of college football. You should be eligible for the NFL draft after your senior year of high school.

You really think that HS kids are ready for the brutal physicality of the NFL? No way would any of them get drafted right out of HS.

The NFL will continue to let the colleges provide minor leagues for them for free.

Teams would definitely draft players out of HS, otherwise the NFL wouldn't need a rule disallowing teams from drafting players right out of HS.

I agree with you that players wouldn't be physically ready, but plenty of rebuilding teams would be willing to take flayers on top prospects in the hope that they develop as expected and grow into being superstars. Especially when you get into the later rounds.

If players could be drafted out of high school the nfl would draft them to keep other teams from getting their rights. If they weren’t ready, they would start a legit minor league like baseball to develop them
