Any of the big schools would be. He just will have to live with fewer touches, unless he is world's better than what they have.

I think him and Sims are extremely complementary to each other in the backfield. Gibbs needs the ball. Sims wants to feed Gibbs the ball.

IMO, Gibbs leaving makes very little sense, but I suppose he has a plan. He would absolutely be part of the 1/2 Sims/Gibbs punch. With Mason leaving, we have Smith and Griffin to also carry load and play in the two back sets with Gibbs or play one in the slot, aka Mccollum. Move Gibbs around. Get him the ball. Slot one play. RB another. Split wide another. Wildcat with Sims at WR. 3 back with Smith at wildcat with Griffin and Gibbs in the backfield.

We need to open it up.

I’d be surprised to see him not in school somewhere else by first couple weeks of January when break is over. But hypothetically, he could stay in school through next semester and remain in the transfer portal until he finds his next spot.

Is there a deadline for the portal, or do they just stay there until they sign with another school or return to their original school if the original school wants them back.

IIRC entering the portal releases the school from all future scholarship obligation, so it’s purely up to the coach if they want to let them back.
