GT and the ACC

I’m not opposed to the B1G because of money, especially if the scenario above kept Rutgers out of the B1G.

However I’m not sure that playing games against Ohio State, Wisconsin, or Michigan will get many viewers in Georgia or be attractive to recruits. The negative recruiting would be “do you really want to play football in Minneapolis in the winter?”
The answer to that would be the latest possible game in Minnesota would be the Saturday before Thanksgiving

Is that really any worse than Pittsburgh or Boston? I think I would rather play in Minneapolis on the B1G network than in Pittsburgh on Bally Sports.

Are you saying you never turned on the snow effect in Madden?

There are a helluva lot of Big10 fans in this area who, I think, would LOVE to see their teams play in Atlanta.

Are there more UNCheat fans or Michigan State fans in Atlanta?

I’m not saying it’s a no-go, but there are some negatives.
I would say there are more OSU fans, and maybe Mich fans, than football-interested UNC fans. Probably not Mich State through, although, IIRC, a good many Mich State fans were at the All America bowl in '85.

Those schools routinely recruit Georgia and the rest of the South. Most recruits would rather play against those three teams than against any team in the ACC with the possible exception of Clemson. And a significant number of Southern players choose to sign with those schools.

Last 3 years of Paul Johnson's career @ GT, he was 17-19 before he quit....leaving the talent bowl damn near completely empty. In that stretch were a 3-9 year and a 5-6 year.

Paul was a hell of a coach but the future wasn't exactly "trending upward" during the end of his GT tenure.
So you are telling me that the last three years of Paul Johnson was 17-19 and first three years of Geoff Collins has been 9-25 and its Paul Johnson's fault that Geoff Collins can't coach the boys up? Hell I will take Paul Johnson's 17-19 record of Geoff Collins any day! WTH?

Our 2015, 2017 & 2018 recruiting classes were ranked the same or higher than our 2021 class; but for some reason people think that roster was horrendous and our current roster is stacked. What will really be head scratching is if any of CPJ's players see the field in year 4.
I am starting to think that people are just so mad that we won with the TO and are afraid we will have to go back to that scheme to win 7 games on the regular. I guess they thought Paul Johnson was holding the program back but in reality he did things on the Flats that probably wont ever be accomplished for a long time:

1 ACC Title (2009)
4 ACC Coastal Division Titles (2008, 2009, 2012, 2014)
3× ACC Coach of the Year (2008, 2009, 2014)
2X Orange Bowls
1 Peach Bowl
2x 11 win seasons
2x 9 win seasons

The Collins era can't even get to .500 play in the ACC??? WTH??? People are realizing that we are heading in the wrong direction under Collins. However we can hire other coaches that can actually coach and do not use the TO. But that would require an AD to actually search for the right fit and just not hire his boys from UCF and try to re create the UCF model at GT.

I would legitimately argue there are more Michigan State, Penn State, etc fans than UNC fans in Atlanta (counting only legit football+basketball alumni/family fans, not unrelated basketball bandwagoners). The Big Ten fanbases are monstrous.

I don’t give one single öööö about any team in the Big 10. We’re a southern football team, not some midwestern team.

JRjr
Who gives a öööö, if the Big Ten wants us, let's put on our prettiest southern belle dress and let them wine and dine us and possibly get us to having a functional football program. The ACC isn't even a southern conference anyway, it's an east coast metro conference.

The 2021 class isn't complete yet. The star ranking is based on full classes and we have only signed 13 so far (transfers don't currently count in the class rankings). You're comparing apples and refrigerators when you compare a full class in the 40's ranking with a class of only 13 in the 40's.

The fact that you think we should be happy with 3 recruiting classes ranked in the 40's says a lot.

That's the problem with GT fans. You see CPJ's last years as "fine"

GT would be as much of a fish out of water in the Big10 as West Virginia is in the Big12
