Gutsy effort, but we have a real problem on offense.

We are something like 110 in passing efficiency and 118 in 3rd down conversions. If we always looked at who is worse than us we would become complacent. I am afraid a lot of Tech folks are now.

ND is horrible, why compare us to them? A better comparison would be VT, whose offense looks anemic as well.

I think we need a complete overhaul of our offense for next year honestly. What we are doing just isn't working. With Nesbitt and Dwyer we need to be a running a spread option offense.

I don't disagree with the change in offense next yr, but first we got this yr to worry about.

GTKyle,

The rest of our personnel dictates that the spread option would not be a good choice this year or next. When the kid from Arizona and Nesbitt are ready to start and we have time to learn new blocking schemes, then I agree. I heard that they are using Nesbit to run the option in practice. This means that the second string is learning the principles and terminology.

A lot of our problem:

run, run, 3rd and 8
run, run 3rd and 10
run, run 3rd and 7
etc...

Great win but it was ugly and not very encouraging. Our offense continues to sputter as it has the last 4 or 5 years. If our defense doesn't play lights out we lose and that isn't going to win consitently...great win but same story.

I have been giving Bennett the benefit of the doubt, but 7/15 67 yards and an INT ain't going to cut it. I never thought I would say this but it is apparently obvious why he never replaced Reggie Ball last year. He is a highschool Quarterback at best whose been taught not to make costly mistakes but he cannot move the ball. Booker should in the least been given a shot to play at some point in that game and in the very least, the next game.

Yes, our O-line and passing game don't scare anyone. We only sniffed the goal line after a blocked punt and probably wouldn't have scored a TD had it not been for a pass interference call. We need a passing game and ball control offense baaaad!!

Our WR's need a good slap in the face. Why not give Donley some PT?

When the AJC asked Gailey that question, he responded "It's not like the other guys are doing bad," Gailey said after a game in which Tech dropped at least five passes.

Ha! What game was he watching!?

Uh, he's not going to talk about players in the newspaper. When are people going to learn that what he tells the press is just to get them to go away?

Bottom line for me is this:

Our offense did enough to win, and that's good enough for me today.

But what we did to win yesterday will not be enough to beat Maryland.

The WR's were abysmal again. Like I said last week, they need to run drills where they get hit when they catch the ball so they will get used to it and don't take their eyes off the ball. DJ Donley should definitely be getting a lot of PT at receiver.

Well, honestly, I believe that Nesbitt will start next year. He's going to get better and beat out Bennett.

Funny you should say that. Someone asked Gailey if Donley was going to get more PT at receiver and he said, "why? it's not like the other receivers are doing badly."

Please see above Kyle. Gailey isn't going to talk about personnel with the AJC. What he tells them and what he really thinks are often two different things. Just look at how many times he's said something was going to happen and it didn't. He's just trying to get them to leave him alone.

then why didn't he just say "we'll see..." instead of giving a more a specific statement?

Essentially our offense put together ONE drive for 3 points. Doesn't this worry you?[/quote]

What did I miss? The longest scoring drive was 11 yards.............

our LONGEST scoring drive was 11 yards. Yep, that's right, ELEVEN. 'nough said.

Why? He's just making sure he doesn't sound negative about any players.

This is not way to handle the media. First of all, it makes him look like an idiot an secondlly it is patronizing to the person asking the question - which is never a good thing when talking about the media.

So you say what? Our Wrs suck and every position is open to competition? Besides, what makes you think that was his whole comment? The paper prints the part they want.
