Yes. The strongest value proposition is winning. You resort to branding when you can't do the other 2

Not being disagreeable but I don't think it worked. Branding is all about the product and the product is Georgia Tech: the Brand is Georgia Tech. I could be wrong but I suspect that 404/ATL didn't resonate much. Why, for ex, would a kid from Valdosta or Alabama or New Jersey care about ATL/404? I'm sure I would suck at recruiting but I'd be more confident telling a kid from south Florida "we need kids like you who can contribute to and are worthy of the TECH brand" then one can explain all the history and offer the chance to become part of that history.I'll die on the hill that the ATL/404 branding was a good idea. It only has to go because Collins tainted it with his losing, but it was basically the only thing he got right.
I agree. Even UGAg had the panic of greeting recruits with a "welcome to Atlanta" banner - in Athens. Then, they figured out Collins was a horrible coach and didn't subsequently worry about it.I'll die on the hill that the ATL/404 branding was a good idea. It only has to go because Collins tainted it with his losing, but it was basically the only thing he got right.

The 404/ATL was really a fictitious history with nothing behind it. I think Collins pivoted away from Tech for purely narcissistic reasons and basically made a mockery of the very brand he was trying to create. Its not right for us to continue to perpetuate that misjudgment.
There is a lot more to sell kids on when the brand is TECH. Not so much with ATL/404. I agree with the GTAA's decision to call it a day on that. I assume the appropriate marketing/branding experts were given an opportunity to make a recommendation on the matter.
Collins wanted to make the school more attractive to black athletes. Atlanta is known nationwide for black history and hip-hop, which resonates very well with... surprise, young black men. Atlanta is very different than pretty much every city/town with a big time college football program. So he was simply using that as a means for attracting recruits. We should utilize everything we have to offer, including being in a great city like Atlanta. Not being disagreeable but I don't think it worked. "Embracing the 404"I have no problem with embracing 404 or ATL. Stop being an old fogey.
He went too far with it and it came off as dumb like everything else he did. I don’t have a problem with 404 or ATL references, I just don’t want them to be the center of our efforts. I especially want the logos of the Collins era gone (especially the stupid 404 with the crown hanging off it). They need to rebrand any ATL/404 stuff so that it’s not the Collins stuff.I have no problem with embracing 404 or ATL. Stop being an old fogey.
I'll get off your lawn just as soon as I can get the tennis ball footies on my walker unstuck from the sprinkler head. This is random but I would love to have Wes back calling games. Guess I'm an old fogey...see what I did there ;)

It gives more recognition to the Hawks & Delta.Good move. I hate to break it to some of you but almost the entirety of the "ATL" doesn't really give a crap about GT or Tech athletics. Winning can change that but simpin for the ATL/404 does nothing positive for the Georgia Tech athletics "brand".
This isn't the 1950's anymore. "Being Georgia Tech" is gonna land us being more like Vanderbilt than UGA, but hell, for some reason, you guys want that.Nailed it.
Everything about TFG was about attempting to redefine Tech with clown makeup into some kind of side show. ATL/404 was part of that. The juice crew was part of that. A circus.
None of that is Georgia Tech.
Be Georgia Tech. Make Georgia Tech Georgia Tech Again.
They chose the right man to do that. Brent Key.
I would settle for the mid 90's thru 2018. Or is that too "old fogey"?This isn't the 1950's anymore. "Being Georgia Tech" is gonna land us being more like Vanderbilt than UGA, but hell, for some reason, you guys want that.
We would get slaughteredI would settle for the mid 90's thru 2018. Or is that too "old fogey"?
Because?We would get slaughtered
Because this isn't the olden days where you can go in with your retard "GT brand" and think that is gonna mean a damn thing to a recruit. Playing in Atlanta may mean something.Because?
We don't have enough simpin to the ATL/404 culture (whatever that is)?
We aren't going to have a 'juice crew" jumping up and down on the sidelines?
We don't have enough demographically targeted music on the PA system or performing at halftime?
Someone isn't yelling "Money Down!" pointlessly over the PA?
Absolute nonsense.
Tech is a great school with a great football tradition in a popular large metropolitan city. Tech plays big boy football on a big boy football stage with a solid coaching staff and if you're a good enough player on that stage you can make it to the NFL and get paid NIL money along the way. Money talks. If you don't make to the NFL, you'll receive a world class education and do with it what you want. There is nothing else that needs to be said.
Everything else is nonsense.
Next year it can say AACBecause this isn't the olden days where you can go in with your retard "GT brand" and think that is gonna mean a damn thing to a recruit. Playing in Atlanta may mean something.
Yea, because no conference gives a damn about the GT brand. They may just care about Atlanta, which helps separate us from Blacksburg, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and CharlottesvilleNext year it can say AAC
