Hey its Adamm Oliver, let me say this!

Yes, there are women here!!:D

I just say that my husband is a very lucky man. I love to go and watch GT football, baseball and basketball and I love to read about all three on GT message boards. I actually love watching any college football (especially when an SEC team gets their asses handed to them) on TV and have to text him with scores when he has to work while games are on.

As a matter of fact, one of our favorite dates is to go watch a baseball game after eating at The Varsity. This is our anniversary tradition (7 years and counting) and it's always great!

Well Barrel, you certainly know full well the up-hill battles that we had to fight, the crap we had to endure and the bullets we sweated to get that GT degree. With that in mind, I just don't feel too compelled to take cheap shots from first time posters directed towards those of us that did manage to stick it out and get the degree. Especially a poster that may not even understand what has happened over the years with BO. I've put the issues into context for him. Now he needs to do a little homework and he'll probably understand why I said what I did. You've been around long enough to already understand why I said what I did. So why are you lecturing me?

I think you need to relax. This is a GT fan sports board. Not an alumni board to discuss academia. I'll gladly take all the fans we can get and will be happy to receive the ones who at least don't insult or embaress my alma mater like some on the other board. The difference between them and us, is that they have a choice on who they can cheer for, and they chose GT over UGA or anyone else.

For that, I salute everyone of them.

The fact that you and I took our shots on the Hill doesn't mean we hold some rank when it comes to cheering our football team.

True, but it does put our opinions over some others when it comes to a specific subclasses of Internet Forum Gripe. The "We Need Crip Majors For Athletes So We Can Compete" gripe, for instance.

Actually, I am a she (the comment about my husband's family should have tipped you off ;)), my post wasn't a GT alum rant and I honest to goodness:o wouldn't intentionally take cheap shots at anyone on any of the Tech boards (including Bbuzzoff). What you may believe is putting issues into context most assuredly comes across as pompous and more than a little condescending whether that was your intent or not.

I am a longtime reader on this and many other Tech message boards and have chosen not to comment because of the tendency of some (not the majority mind you) to make assumptions/assertions like the one that you made that just because someone doesn't have a degree from GT that they somehow are less of a Tech fan. You may want to take a step back and see where a non-alum is coming from before making decisions about who your real Tech brothers (and sisters:D are and show them a little respect for not having alum ties to a school but still supporting that school as much as (and sometimes more than) many of the alum.

As much as I hate UGA and it's fanbase, you have to admit that they all support each other in being fans. You would never hear fans from UA, AU, UF, UGA (do I need to name more) tell another fan that they aren't a real fan because they didn't attend that university.

I see where you are coming from, really. You studied your ass off and you can proudly say that your degree from GT was hard earned. You have my respect:biggthumpup: but my whole point was that non-alum fans deserve respect also.

Well then, welcome to Tech and you'll certainly get the respect you deserve. I hope you understand that my response was "solely" directed at a group of BO non-alums that I personally believe have taken cheap shots at the university in the past. I still do not agree with the level of criticism that BO has leveled in the past toward the university president nor towards alums that the board administrator believes have no marketing smarts nor people skills. He might actually be very surprised at what we do know.

You have to fundamentally understand the history and the context that those comments were framed in. They were in no way directed at you. I remain deeply suspicious of BO because of their past track record. Although they have developed a completely different personality de jour to suite the pre-season, I remain very cautiously guarded of their future attitude and position if things don't get off to an immediately favorable start once the season begins. I hope you understand my concerns and why I'm somewhat incapable of spinning on a dime to embrace a group that I felt has been detrimental to Tech in the past.

And I completely understand your comments (more than you could possibly know) relative to the UGA fan base sticking together. I have a daughter that graduated from UGA.

That's the one thing that bothers me, although I know there's probably more then a few alums thinking the same thing. I imagine that they rode the M-Train though.

Anyways, that was the one real issue I took to Buzzoff and the rotten people posting there. I was too busy graduating during the wars between the pro and anti Gailey camps, so I can't comment on that. But when I go to Buzzoff and there people calling Clough an idiot because he spent his time focused more on academics then on athletics. Those people, to me, are not Georgia Tech fans. They may as well go follow the Falcons for all I care. The well being of the Institute will always take precedence over the well being of a football team we use as a delightful distraction from crappy jobs and annoying girl friends. I'm not saying that anyone here promotes that warped line of thinking. I have absolutely no problem with someone who didn't graduate from Tech being a full fledged fan of the team. There's plenty of people with a piece of paper on the wall from Tech that aren't worth a crap.

I'm sure Buzzbomb isn't trying to be a dick. Every one of us that made it out tend to think pretty highly of ourselves for accomplishing such a masochistic feat.

THWG1974, I only wish my girlfriend had half the interests you do.

Allen has really supplanted WracerX as the provider of the best sig lines.

"The Hive banned hundreds of people over the past few years for no other reason than they were critical of Chan Gailey's coaching ability. That ban led to BuzzOFF being started and the fracture in our fan base. So lets place the blame where it belongs." :ugh:

Had they decided to let fans speak their minds about Chan - this divide would not occur now.

Regarding the picture of you and your daughter, you posted that picture on the internet yourself on a public website so if you didn't want anyone to link to it you shouldn't have posted it in the first place. Again, place the blame where it belongs.

Noone was banned to protect Gailey. People were banned when they continued to hijack threads and attack people on the board. Any assertion that "hundreds" of people were banned is a gross exaggeration. I was one of a grand total of 5 admins over the CCG time period and probably banned a grand total of a half dozen people...and one of those was GTO after he posted that he wished AJ Suggs would break his leg.

As far as internet pictures being public domain. no argument there. But as a "man", there are some lines you don't cross regardless of what material may be handy and available. Using myself as an example...no matter how badly I may dislike Beebad, I'd never pull his family into the argument or publish personal information about him that was available from a /WHOIS on his website. That's just not kosher or cool and would be out of line. But then...I hold myself to a higher standard apparently...

I am banned from both boards. They just can't handle me because I tell it like it is and call a spade a spade.

Come on BOR...you enjoy getting banned because it plays into your rebel personna. You're not fooling anyone. I watched you TRY to get banned on multiple occassions. :laugher:

So while some of you may choose to not listen, we fully understand...however, many more people are listening since he joined.

Controversy certainly breeds interest so I'm not surprised you got some listeners.

My concern for you Adamm is that you're not getting the kind of listeners who will stick with you in the LONG TERM and who will support the show through thick or thin.

You're a young guy though...so you'll learn this through experience.

Best of luck.

Wow, must have actually made it to double digits :D

actually, "irishe" isn't Adamm, but a Brevard CC grad who's running the radio show for him.

:>)

There is no possibility the number is that low. I just hit the 5 year anniversary on my life time ban. Can't remember who delivered the final ban, though it might've been you.

i got banned and i had been on the Hive since the onset. in fact it pisses me off that some newbie with some sense of self-importance enjoyed nuking me after i had spent about 5x the amount of time making the board a community than they had!

anyway, i dont even know what i got banned for, since they dont even send you an email. poorly run site by a bunch of wild young guns that love moving posts and banning posters to feel really important
