Home and Home With Tennessee 2026 and 2027

That doesn’t surprise me, the next thing that will start happening is midway through the season players threatening to not appear for games because they are not receiving enough playing time or carries.

It happened with Matt Sluka at UNLV.

You can bet your ass that Haynes King is one of the guys who Tennessee’s NIL collective has reached out to through third parties. Philo too. I also thought that was against the rules.

Before some of you get knocked off your high horse, GT had a QB do essentially the same thing over tickets, waaaaaaaay back before anyone ever thought of N-I-L. There was even a discussion of it on here somewhere in the last five years or so.

It's only a matter of time before certain reps and national attention seekers show up in Knoxville outside Heupel's office demanding this kid get what he is due by their standards.

I have no doubt UT will find a suitable replacement, or already has one stockpiled, for Heupel to coach up.

Regional rivalries are the only thing that will save resurrect and make college football a good sport again.
Amen brother. It’s what all the finance guys miss. CFB will go the way of NASCAR if they’re not very careful.

Philo fits their offense more so than King. I love Haynes, but doubt he’s on their list….at least I hope so.

Wrong. College football is stronger than ever. Everyone can now buy players legally and the portal has helped move talent from the 3 deep to starters elsewhere. The SEC schools hate all this because their major advantage of under the table money is gone.

With NIL, the portal, and an expanded playoff the sport is entering its golden era where every team has hope. Look at GT. 3 years ago we were a dead and dying program. Now, we bought a 2nd string QB from Texas A&M via the portal, we signed our first ever 5 star due to NIL, and our fanbase is excited and united for the first time in a long time. And this is happening at a lot of mid level programs who are increasing their talent pool and winning more games. Don’t let the woe is me crowd from the SEC and ESPN twist it. UGA went from beating us 45-0, which could have been 80-0, just 3 years ago to beating us in 8 overtimes. Our talent has increased 3 fold and their talent and depth has stepped back big time because no 4 or 5 star wants to sit for 3 years. The portal is the biggest gift to GT football in decades.

our turnaround from 3 years ago has nothing to do with nil or portal

Disagree to a point. Your argument would be spot on if the NIL was regulated, but it's not. The factories with more and more deeper pockets WILL prevail. The question is, just how deep are our pockets to play the game. Wake Forest, with a student body around 4000 is going to hurt big time.

Ohio St is still national champions. The upper echelon is still the upper echelon. We've lost our best RB and receiver to the upper echelon teams. We've lost our best pass rusher to a mediocre Big 12 team. So for all the Haynes Kings we are still losing some of our best players.

When the best RB or receiver on Alabama, Ohio St or UGA transfers to Tech then I'll be on board.
