How many games would we have won if we still had Butker?

Let me spell it out for you. You're an idiot if you honestly believe kicking the ball out of the end zone results in three more wins per year.

It would double our current win total this year. :P

More the point, care to name the position on the team where we should have *less* depth so that we can have more at kicker? Just which position is less important than kicker?
Go over the roster, pick the two deepest positions, and remove one player from the depth chart for each of those positions. Cede somewhere between 10 and 14 less points to USF, and add 3 wins onto last year's total. That's the math.

Would having one less linebacker be worse than 10 points on the bottom line?

Pretty sure we're going in circles at this point. Peace –

Quite obvious the root of our football problems can be laid at the feet of Mr & Mrs Butker.

Harvin has such a big leg. It makes ZERO sense to me that he is not handling kickoff duties.
Punting out of the air and kicking from the ground are completely different skills and not necessarily easily translatable. Most kickers have soccer backgrounds, punting is more of an isolated skill.

Or our defense could have been figured out quicker, and our D worn out more to make a 4/5 TD drive second half worse. We will never know.

We gonna beat Pitt this week?
öööö yeah we're gonna beat Pitt. 2014 style.

Joseph Bulovas, the kid Bama stepped in and stole from us a couple years ago, just named him the starter yesterday.
Meh. Flush and move on. I wonder how many posters on the bama boards lamented on our theft of their 4 star CB back in 2012 :dunno:

Why do you think our defense would have been able to prevent a score on both of those drives had their offense gotten the ball?
I was thinking about this too. If we assume USF still scores on those possessions, then would have taken 3-4 minutes to score each time. That's a 6-8 minute difference and would have effectively cut the game by that amount. If I remember correctly, we fumbled at around 7-5 minutes left or something. It's possible to say the game could have ended differently.
Edit: actually it just occurred to me that the kickoff returns were both in the first half, so the break at halftime nullifies the difference in time at the end of the game. I don't remember what the last 6-8 minutes of the first half looked like.

... I don't remember what the last 6-8 minutes of the first half looked like.

We didn't do dick in the 2nd quarter. We kicked ass 1st quarter then they adjusted. 2nd half we did dick until we put TO in. Then they adjusted andwe took TO out. Fumbled it away and then didn't do dick again.

Are you sure they are all walk ons? Roster online says we have the following PKs

Brenton King
Wesley Wells
Cliff Gandis
Shawn Davis

I thought at least King and Davis have scholarships.

Either way, doesn't change the point - a PK should be the leading scorer on most teams.

Scott Sisson was the leading on the '90 team.

We probably would have won more games with Butker still kicking. But we would have had to forfeit them later when an investigation showed we were using a player with no eligibility remaining. It wouldn't be our first run-in with the NCAA as we cement our reputation as an institute committed to winning by any means necessary.
