Hyped for the season

I'm torn on this season. Definitely not "hyped." The increasing professionalism of college football is near crossing a threshold for me, if it hasn't already done so. I know that it has had this element for decades, but IMO it has seriously increased to another level with the NIL payments, and transfer portals, and SEC gargantuanism. I'm having a harder and harder time connecting "college" football players to the universities they supposedly represent. It's like . . . "The Yellow Jackets, brought to you by the Georgia Institute of Technology." A sponsored product as opposed to anything organic to the school itself.

I'll probably still watch, out of habit and the fact that I'm old and set into it. But if I was 20 YO and in college now . . . not sure I would give a crap.
Interesting point. I understand that it may seem that the players are less like students then they used to be but I still think the basic, fundamental character of college football is still in place - the loyalty to the school, taking classes, getting the degree. I think its not even close to a pro team where the players don't really have any connection to the franchise.

I would wager that the kids on our team are proud to represent Georgia Tech and all it stands for and similarly despise the dwag players and what they represent. NIL or not, we still have that in common with the team. I'm good with that.

I think the absence of NIL was a source of resentment for the players - now that they don't feel used (or at least as used) as before, it might even strengthen the bond between the players and the school.

I don't consider the transfer portal to be a free agent market. The kids in the portal have legit reasons for being there - its not a marketplace. At least not yet.

Get that poop out of your diaper old man. It's football time.

How is anyone not hyped for this season?

We have a chance to erase a lot of bad memories and build something huge.

We are a top notch school, in one of America's biggest cities, and the NCAA just said businesses can pay athletes for advertising. If we can square away our coaching and coordinating, we have a chance to have a more meteoric rise than say a Baylor. Not quite Clemson of the 10s but some serious success.

you're filled with estrogen if that doesn't make you erect.

If you were 20 yo in college you would probably be wondering what all the whining is about.

Still 9 days for Tech. I have to be careful I don't climax prematurely.

I'm ready!! The post-practice pressers by both coaches and players have been interesting to watch. Players are pretty much always optimistic- but the coaches have a much different tune to them this year. Have a smirk like we're gonna be good and really surprise a lot of folks.

Sims with full season and a spring under his belt. Gibbs healthy with Mason, Griffin, and Dontae is among the best in the league. Much improved o-line. Much improved pass rush. Ace helping out at LB. Speed at receiver. Veterans in the secondary. Should be improved place kicking. Punter should be fairly solid. Got some depth.

If we stay healthy.....

GO JACKETS!!!

The 400 yards on 4 touches were the kick returns. The 400 yards rushing was on 5 carries. Not sue which walkon had the kneel downs.
Correction: 400 yards on three carries.

Don't ask. He's that good.
