Hyped for the season

How long have you been a GT fan, again?

Man I still remember being in the RV lot after the 2014 Miami game. Everybody there knew right then it was different that year, and we were going to win something big. I can't forget that feeling. It is upon me!

2014 was great, but also has strong woulda-coulda-shoulda vibes because of the frustrating no-D loss to UNC, the inexplicable loss to Duke at home, and FSU going out and playing a perfect game in the ACCCG. (I think we lost Smelter against the Dwags, which also hurt in the ACCCG.)

Whew that next weekend really took the air out of the balloon though

2014 was a wild year. Felt great after beating VT and Miami in back to back weeks but then lost to Duke and UNC in the following two games.

And when we were only beating Wofford by one point (10-9) at halftime I definitely did not think it was an 11 win team.

Was that the lighting delay Duke game?

Or a #7 in the country team when in reality there were probably only 4 teams better in the whole country.

Yes I totally forgot about that! Plus they tackled JT5 dirty and he was limping the whole game.
The GT/Duke lightning delay game has been the only GT game in my memory that I left early. It was just an overall weird game. The team was flat. The fans were flat. It was just a bad all around day.

You’re right. Strange seeing that the week earlier Cuntlips had made fun of Techs ability to produce wide receivers. But flat is the correct way to describe it.

Also not gonna lie, but I left the vtech game in 2019 early.

To be fair, we also needed small miracles to beat Georgia Southern and UGA. VA Tech wasn't a super clean win, either, and we got to play Clem without DeShawn Watson. I'll take 2014 with its warts straight up, it was an incredible year given how razor-thin our margins were from going 7-5.

Georgia Southern game was in hand at half then we went all Georgia Tech on them and almost let them win

I will be disappointed if the game is not clearly in hand by 8 PM to 8:15 PM Saturday night.
With timeouts in between scores and their punting, etc it may take a bit longer. I’d give it until 8:30 or 8:45. A TD every 15 mins, which is roughly 5 game minutes these days, it is probably going to take us until 20-25 mins of game time to get up 28pts.

DeShawn did play. Their OC was just retarded calling QB run after QB run when it was obvious that Roof had a plan for it. Watson was getting yards, but he was getting absolutely blown up every time he ran. Once Watson was out, they folded.

Had Clemson figured out that a Roof defense does not cover the TE between the hash marks, they could have Watson dropping short passes all game long without getting hit.

Sadly, FSU solved the riddle and had O’Leary look like an all American.

The uga game shouldnt have been close. Refs gifted them 14 points after they didn't blow the play dead and uga returned the "fumble" for 6. I remember players saying we crossed the goalline but no whistle was blown.

Yes, the refs were abysmal, but the fact of that matter is that we needed UGA to inexplicably do a squib kick, drive into field goal range in about 20 seconds, and hit a 50+ yarder with a college kicker JUST to get to overtime. Same with Georgia Southern, they were about to ice the game when they fumbled in the redzone. Those weren't just close games we won, they were miraculous.

2014 is not a team to go "what-if" over. 2014 was the what-if scenario. That was a great, fun team with an elite offense, but there are a lot of great, fun teams that peter out to 7-5 and 8-4 every year. We had something seriously clicking by the UGA game but the team was very fragile for most of the year and we're fortunate that they didn't blow the season early on.

I think that TD by UGAg actually helped GT. We gave up 7, but their defense had to come right back out and get beaten down again.
