I don't know if recruits are identifying with it or not....we'll find out later this fall I suppose. Fans of CGC certainly identify with it though and I suspect if he were to leave it would go away too.

No, that’s not what I’m saying at all, dingus. What I’m saying is that if our 404-life used car salesman coach needs to recruit at Clemson levels to win football games, we’re right and proper ööööed. It also means he’s a bad coach. Because he’s not going to be pulling in top ten classes.

Paul Johnson could win with lesser talent because he was a good coach. Lots of coaches can win with lesser or equal talent. That’s called being a good coach.

Paul’s gone. It’s over. This has nothing to do with Paul Johnson.

If your mantra is "You suck till you prove otherwise" then I can't help you. As for me and my house, we started out with hope and got behind CGC, same as we did for CBR, CBL, CGO, CCG, and CPJ. To do otherwise is anti-Tech, and quite frankly part of the problem with the overall fan base.

Paul could also lose when we had more talent. Embarrassingly and at home.

Paul could also lose when we had 20 pt leads over the mutts at home.

I don't have a problem with fans who came on board because of PJ. I am a sidewalk fan myself (started paying attention during the O'Leary years) and the more, the merrier. What I do have a problem with are option cultists who don't realize that the option era was a slice of GT football history that was always going to end.

Now, I know ya'll wanna echo PJ and say this is a talented team, but here are some facts. We are 119th in FBS this year in terms of returning production. Our recruiting classes have consistently been in the bottom quarter of the ACC and P5 in general. Maybe one of Graham, Lucas or Oliver would have been a spectacular option QB, but the fact is not a single P5 school saw any of them as a quarterback. Collins has been tasked with modernizing our offense on a shoestring coordinator budget (and make no mistake: getting away from the option was a prerequisite for anyone TStan was going to hire). None of this excuses a loss to the Citadel, but it absolutely justifies him getting a "year zero" and mulligan for this year's results. Judging him a failure 3 games in is dumbassery from people who are still butthurt PJ is gone.

Sidewalk fans are great. CPJ fans who want to tear it all down after he’s gone suck ass and we don’t need them.

Paul Johnson couldn't have won without a QB that fit his system. See the debacle of Gardner-Webb - sure we won but barely.

CGC has no QB for his system, no WR that can run proper routes, an OL that can't get push on an FCS line, and a DL that got pushed back 5 yards on every play. It's going to take time to build this team back into an actual FBS-level team. The recruiting he has done so far buys him a 1-11 season this year if he needs it. It's going to suck, but it is what it is.
 
I’m sure CGC is honest with the kids about where we are and where we’re going. No one expected a loss to the Citadel, but certainly no one was expecting us to win anything of consequence this season.

Plus, clearly they are coming here for the culture.

So Paul Johnson couldn't have won without a QB that fit his system; except when he won without a QB that fit his system, ok got it. CPJ also won with a true freshmen QB that year, which also an option that CGC had since he had plenty of time to recruit one.

It all depends on the rest of the season, if we hit rock bottom and win no more than 2 or 3 games recruits will look elsewhere
 
We may not out recruit the mutts or Klimptsin, but it would be nice to outrecruit the Citadel....
