Is recruiting getting any better?

number of championships

Hmm... lots of factors here beyond player skill.

That's what I use, and the last time I looked Johnson has around 2 per year, which is Tech's historical average going back to the mid-90s.

EDIT: I found my post from a while ago. Turns out I was only able to go back to early 2000s as the NFL Draft site only went back that far.

Anyway, here's what I found at the time.

Fair enough - pretty simple measure (not perfect I'm sure, but I will take it.).

So basically, recruiting is about the same as always but our highs have been higher and our lows have been lower.

It isn't recruiting, it is the coaching up of recruits from the weight room to the film room. We will never have a great recruiting class given the competition for Georgia high school dumbass football players. We can not have such unbalanced recruiting classes so that we don't have a bunch of freshmen on the field. We can teach a fifth year senior lineman to not let three guys run by him while trying to block a linebacker who is in coverage. Those are the failures.

You clearly haven't been paying attention. That is completely counter intuitive to what Sewak is trying to teach. For instance, here's the Clemson game plan:

And here was the Miami plan:

Note the subtle differences. For instance, Miami was a day game and it was bright out, hence the sun, whereas the Clemson game was at night, and there was no sun.

It seems like ALL of our foes are stepping up their game. UGA, Clemson, FSU will always outrecruit us, but so is VPISU, UM, Duke(!).

It's apparent on the field that we are out manned. Hell, we looked a little out gunned vs Vandy.

The offense is able to neutralize some amount of talent difference, but I think most of our opponents have crossed the threshold into being able to easily shut it down.

Johnson has been here 9 years. Shouldn't we be expecting him to at least stay on par with ööööing Duke? Does he need to hire some better recruiting coordinators? How do we help him out?

Duke doesn't have our recruiting restrictions, plus Durham is much cooler to live in than Atlanta.

Well, it's obviously crappier than Duke's since they've beaten us, what, the last 3 years. The fonts on here that disparage Duke need to clearly explain why we've lost to them so much lately. Bunch of freakin elitists.

Duke doesn't have our recruiting restrictions. Derp!

Johnson covered recruiting talent in two questions on the call-in show. Said that we recruit the same 4* and 5* guys as everyone else, but we're competing with a lot of area schools that are hugely committed to football. So the next caller asked, what do we need to do to improve our commitment. The answer was basically better facilities and amenities, and more people in the stands.

The unmentioned factor was how our offense may or may not affect recruiting.
