Is this what we've become?

Uh, it's been this way my whole life in Georgia. But misery makes you happy, so be it. When I travel abroad, there are people in these foreign lands who know GT and don't know öööö about the Green Bay Bulldogs.

So true. Been to Italy several times and always see at least one person with GT gear on. Maybe we should start recruiting Rome and Florence.

This is the football board. GT's academic reputation is not the issue when they're selling sweatshirts at Wal-Mart.

It's no wonder the administration refuses to place a higher emphasis on athletics... our own fans take refuge in academics rather than insist they're not mutually exclusive.

GT is, functionally, a private school a la Vandy or Stanford. Personally, I like not casting a wide net in terms of a fanbase.

This is Barrett Pkwy? Yeah, KSU has definitely encroached on GT's shelf space around here.

I do agree it needs to be fixed and the fix is winning.
Not picking on you but I am taking this opportunity to dispel what I consider to be a myth.

Winning is not what sells bling and it's not what fills seats. Loyalty sells bling and puts paying customers in the stands. Loyalty is why Nebraska - with their record- fills their stadium.

GT had loyal fans back in the 1950s.

But somewhere along the way, Tech lost its connection to it's geographic kin. The dwags have always been the team for the local fan. Unlike Michigan and Michigan St which divides Michigan in half, GT has not staked any claim to anyone in Georgia who is not an alum. And half of our alumni base couldn't find BDS on Google maps.

At some point, we need to understand how to a) accept who we are and b) figure out how to brand it.

We are more like Boston College than we would like to admit. Let's just embrace it, capitalize on it and move on.

Collins wants to recapture the Andre 3000 on the sidelines days. That ship has sailed, docked and mothballed.

The way the English language is going to make even less sense in 20 years is crazy.
In 20 years? A 22 year old I know was in the back of my truck the other day yelling “Bing bong, öööö yo life!” at a random group of frat kids her age and they yelled “Bing bong!” back.

“There’s no snow on the floor, he’s really skiing to Coney Island on the hard top.”

Same. Personally, as a 20-something, I like that it means to be something to be a GT guy. College football is a ööööshow of a sport, I'll take being a member of a fairly exclusive club over whatever the hell Oklahoma is doing. I want our football program to be good and to slam its dick in the mouth of the country, but that's secondary for me IMO.

Tech will never get back to the kind of consistent success we want without the institution as a whole committing itself to football, and that includes relentlessly attempting to expand the fanbase, fill the stadium, and widen the donor base.

How could one find the mediocrity inherent in this faux exclusivity to be more desirable than the hope of achieving greatness at the risk of mingling with disreputable commoners? I don't understand it.

All of these great responses make sense. It really is depressing. This program sucks and really is on the verge of capsizing.

Walked into a local Costco 20 miles north of campus and this is what is on display. If we fast forward 20-30 years are these going to be the two football powerhouses in the state? It's disgusting. This needs to be fixed.

Should’ve looked for some Uga 2021 Sec Champions shirts. Prolly could’ve got some on the cheap.
