Sure, but you have to hold something else in your other hand while you decide. I would volunteer, but I've "never" done anything like that before.

I would hire Bill Lewis. If the 4th quarter meltdown against FSU which was aided by horrible refereeing on two onside kicks had not occurred Lewis would have enjoyed a successful first year. It was a watershed moment and he failed to recover. I would also say had Donnie Davis not injured his shoulder his tenure would have been different. There are more than one or two reasons Collins was an abject failure.
 
Anyone who really dove deep into his path to Bobby Dodd should have been skeptical. He was a decent DC but his as a HC, his Temple teams were mediocre at best. He was not a proven winner, granted I think our pickings were slim and our dipshit AD went with his buddy and grossly overpaid for him at that. All the rah rah rah waffle house stuff was a red flag to me. What other top notch coaches like Sabam, Bowlcut Kirbs, Meyer, Day, Riley or Dabo (ignoring his fraudulent & super cringe religious nonsense) do that kind of stuff and often? I get he was trying to energize our mostly apathetic fan base, but being over the top, was far too much.

This is easy. Bill Lewis without a doubt. The Lewis buyout versus the Collins buyout puts Lewis so far over the top that Collins isn't even close.

Bill Lewis hands down. Lewis won 11 of his 30 games (.367) in his almost 3 years as HBC at GA Tech. By comparison, Bill Curry won 8 games his first 3 years (.242). TFG won 10 of 38 games (.263) his first 3+ seasons. However, Curry played by far the harder schedules, Lewis the next hardest, and TFG the lightest. Lewis was recruiting very well and may have righted the ship in time, but he ran out of time, as did TFG. Curry did right the ship, ultimately posting one good and one decent season, parlaying that into a gig as HBC at Bama.

I tied my fate to yours and you sank like the Spanish armada - and got $11M to walk away while I got peanuts by comparison

I wonder if TS’ connections outside the Tech realm watched the program and told him to cut this clown loose because it’s readily apparent he doesn’t know what he’s doing but TS would not be swayed

If you were TS though, you would have fired him after year 3 and then you would still have your job.

TS must be really good friends with CGC. There's no other way to explain keeping him around after year 3. I suspect they still talk.

Yeah, firing him at the end of year 3 and the absolute stupidity of the contract ending at the end of a calendar year becomes a moot point.

The money down stuff was awful when he first brought it in, and it should have never been adopted over our traditional 3rd down traditions. But when I heard that GC was the one who was printing off these $3 bills with his face on them to give to students to throw, I’ve got no words for how clown-like that is.

No, I just think TS bought into the BS from the UCS and knew he was stuck with him. CGC was his - well, his and PBP's - choice - and wanted to give him as much time or rope so he could save face. We'll never know that if CGC had continued on as coach if TS would have dropped the axe on him at season's end (we weren't going to finish 5-7 under him. This was shaping up to be 3-9 again, at best). He likely would have - and likely would have had no call but to do so.

But if you're TS, do you think, I finally got a chance to come back and run the ship at my alma mater and this friggin iceberg of a coach sank the whole deal for me.
You still gonna talk to that guy? I wouldn't.
