It's fine

The offense is improving yes, but it's in spite of continued crappy offensive play calling.
So the TD drop against UVA was a crappy play call or crappy execution of the play? We've had a lot of plays that seems like our players just aren't capable of executing the play.

You have? Which ones? Gibbs? Norris? Sims? Ivey?
Gibbs isn’t anywhere near as electric as he was last year, Norris is just used more because Brown transferred. Sims is still turnover prone, and he’s more cautious, which leads to him being TOO cautious. Ivey is hit or miss on games.

Hm, didn’t realize that points per game was the only offensive metric. Actually, if you take a look, we only have 2 of our 8 games scoring OVER that average. Now, this is a little statistical analysis, but outliers skew averages, making averages not the choice of stat for most statisticians.

You can pick a bunch of other offensive stats to find improvement (yards per play, points per play, points per drive, OFEI, Off SP+).

But if you want to stick with your super-smart metrics of "seeming to fizzle out" then you do you.

Yeah, it’s the simple eye test. If you talk to most scouts, they rarely care about stats, they care about the eye test on how electric and productive players are. So either we’re stagnant, or everybody else we play is getting significantly better than we are.

Are you scouting for the NFL or evaluating the performance of an offensive unit on a team? I'm more interested in the latter.

One or two well called plays do not eclipse the multiple crappy calls throughout the season. P'Nut yesterday was still trying to justify that doomed-from-the-start 4th down play against VT last weekend. Will he ever learn that plays like that stand an infinite better chance with the QB lined up under center than in the shotgun, where the RB has an additional 5+ yards to even hit the line. The time required to navigate those 5 yards pretty much nullifies any chance of our line holding blocks and opening holes for the RB to go through. And yet he continues to do that over and over again, almost never lining the QB up under center.

Holy öööö WTF are you talking about? Gibbs is a damn freak. If it hadn't have been for the BS hold call, he had a TD last weekend that would have been all time GT highlight film. May have had another if it were not for our ööööty turf making him slip, and apparently ding himself up since he wasn't the focus of that last series

BTW, my biggest fear recruiting wise now is that damn turf.

Play should have been handed to Gibbs. Don't know if he was hurt or not, bit his extra speed and vision, if the play were to have evolved the same way, probably is a 1st down or a TD

I do agree if we are going to tout ourselves as a pro style offense, we need pro style plays - which means getting under center on some plays.

What improvements have we seen on offense? Jahmyr Gibbs, who started out as an electric back, is seeming to fizzle out. Jeff Sims is still making extremely careless mistakes. We don't play our running backs who are hot, aka Donte. We are getting worse on the O Line (which I don't know how that's possible). Our receivers other than Adonicas, who is seeming to become a solid receiver at this point, seem to be regressing. Defensively, I've watched Juanyeh Thomas turn from an All American to just an average, run of the mill safety in the ACC. Tariq Carpenter has SEVERELY taken a step back. Our D Line is the only thing seeing improvement. Charlie Thomas who started out on top of the world at the beginning of the season is falling off. Special Teams is always questionable. Like what specific improvements are we seeing?
In a thread full of idiotic posts this one will be the most idiotic.

Well, we finally agree on at least one thing. LOL

This turf is probably better than that cement carpet that was on there before 1995 (although we did manage to win on it)

So two plays?

Dumbass, I ain't running down an entire ööööing game for you. He got ripped off for a few TD's this season. He is averaging 5.2 YPC, exactly the same as last season. He has a 71 yard run and a 77 yard reception this season. He had 132 and 117 rushing in the last two games.

So two games? Other than those two that means he’s rushed for 270 yards in the other 5… again, two outliers…

Did you look at all his stats, rushing, receiving, returns? You know, not every game can he put a cape on and be Superman. Not even Barry Sanders did that as an underclassman, asshole. He averaged 5.2 YPC last season. He's averaging 5.2 YPC this season. He has had some beautiful runs with AT LEAST two long TD runs taken away from him via penalty. The one last week was an awful call (it was a catch and run)

You know, nobody on here takes you very seriously. You declare something that isn't true and then just stick to it regardless of the facts. Gibbs in no way has "regressed" from last season. Your just a damn disgruntled pansy ass zit faced little punk that was never good enough to accomplish a damn thing in your miserable life so you do nothing but inflict misery on anyone who attempts to communicate with you. I bet your dad wishes he hadn't have had that six pack that night and looked over at your mom wearing her sexiest Terry cloth robe and decided to breed your miserable ass into existence. Either that, or he wishes one of your brothers or sisters had made the egg trip and you would have been left on the bedsheets and gotten washed away the next morning.

I bet those sheets only got washed once a month.
