It would at least explain things like this:

Occam's Razor is pointing this direction, IMO.

I agree with Beej. Those of you who "have friends inside the locker room" are pretty much their weed dealers and this season is on you. You cease and desist immediately or the stingtalk narcotics division will come after you.

Alright, ban me if you have to because I'm sure this post won't be very popular, but I think this year's problem is weed.

Jabari missed two games for "team rules," which is the codespeak for failing a drug test. Our offensive line for the first five games kept talking about how "confused" they were, couldn't make the same presnap reads they were making last year, etc. We've got Vines of our guys literally running straight past each other in the Duke game while a Duke player jogs past them both to make a tackle. The whole thing from front to back has screamed "lack of focus."

We look like Falcons era Vick out there.

Weed. We have a weed problem.

Not disagreeing or agreeing, but this really was the reason Michigan crumbled under Lloyd Carr and lost to App State.

It was also the problem UGA had under Donnon. Although I'm led to believe there was some coke thrown into the mix there.

Oddly enough that was my explanation for several of the vewwy vewwy silly "terrorism racism & sexuality in contemporary America" threads we've seen on ST lately.

Ok, so PJ did not lose the team.

Not being able to fight through adversity says a lot about a person's character. I have not seen much of this with this team. I think our upper classmen didn't do a good job of finishing the drill.

This is unfair. The team has definitely fought, they just haven't had the results. There's only so much you can ask of a team that seems to find a different way to lose a game each week. Sometimes beyond their control (ejection of Gotsis, Injuries, terrible hold call against ND, 56-yard career long FG, etc.)

We are in pretty much every game until the end and beat a top 10 team after losing four in a row. Not sure where you're seeing a lack of fight. They're fighting like hell, they're just not getting the job done, unfortunately.

Meh. He had the best season since 1990 last year. He doesn't *need* to beat U[sic]GA this year.

But he does need to have a good season next year. At least eight wins. Anything less, and he's on the hot seat, at the very least. And I say this as someone who believes he is the right guy for the job.
He öööö sure does need to beat UGAG or he is on a short, short string

This season is so bad that not even beating U[sic]GA can save it. Trust me, I still would love to beat them, but this season is a failure either way to me, and a pretty big one.

We lost the chance to save the season in any way when we lost to VT.

The popular narrative for JH last year was that he was a great kid working really hard to regain academic eligibility and dominating the scout team. The truth was probably more that he lost eligibility because he was smoking weed and not going to class. That, and the conflict with the Days family suggests that he has had some character/maturity issues. It's hard to change that mindset in one year, so it's not surprising that he disappointed everyone again this season. Hopefully, he'll grow up and make something positive from his experiences.

Who in the hell quits their senior year just before Senior Day while playing UGA?

The reason for this year becomes clearer. The senior leadership sucks ass.

I think we've had plenty of fight, and our fight has almost overcome our lack of focus. But it hasn't.

Check out Errin Joe. Plenty of fight when he pushed that guy off JT. Not a lot of focus.

No no no, any season with a win over UGA is a successful season.

A UGA win is worth (N/2) wins, where N = the number of wins they've had the last decade.

truth be told I chalk that up to just the frustration of the season boiling over. I forgive him for it.

I'll take that as a rough estimate of the worth of a win over them. That means, assuming we lose to Miami, a win over U[sic]GA would put us at 7-8.

...so we need to beat Miami to have a shot at a successful season? Someone tell the players (and the bowls) that we're not dead yet!
