This is just talking out your ass. Calvin Johnson was a once in a generation player.
Yes, Gibbs would need to be 230 lbs with 4.3 speed to be in Calvin's class.
Well, 15 years ago is getting close to a generation ago. Maybe this generation just has a player that isn't as good.
Obviously it’s talking out of my ass. I just choose to believe the player has a chance to be special. Calvin Johnson wasn’t a once in a generation player coming our of high school according to most services.
Losing Gibbs would suck but he’s nowhere near Calvin level of importance. We don’t need more RBs. Need more linemen.
Yep....the next Commercial Talker, wisemantropy weiner.
I think he was. He was the highest rated recruit we have EVER signed.
I've already convinced myself we don't need Gibbs. I am prepared!
Man, that's a really good point.
And there's this....
I'll give $1,000,000 to the first person who can find a damn dwag running back in this list. You CAN'T - because no dwags are on this list!
So who would YOU want to play for? A team that can put a RB at the top of this list or a team that can't put anybody on this list?
I'm pretty sure Calvin was rated really highly according to scout.com. Also, recruiting was not that big via websites back then. Very few people had the opportunity to earn a living following high school football recruits.
I think it'll all hinge on location and draft potential in the end. I'm not concerned one homer wrote that UGA was his "dream school". Literally every UGA fan thinks that about every player and they have an existential crisis every time they lose a recruiting battle (some research needs to be done into how they forget so fast by the next day).
It's already been noted that Jahmyr likes Atlanta and likes coach Collins. Our challenge will be the fact that Mason and Griffin are on the roster. He needs to know he has a path to the pros here like Tashard or Dwyer.
On the flipside, UGA has a long record of wasting talent, but they do have a lot of RBs in the NFL right now. I'd argue that says more about underachievement with their recruits than a systematic RB-to-NFL pipeline (they have a lot of hyped players who dont get drafted too), but it all hinges on what Jahmyr believes.
I'd highlight that even at Bama, only a few players get drafted every year. The only way to guarantee yourself a future is with the GT academic reputation and connections afforded by the City of Atlanta. There's a reason almost half of Tech grads are millionaires.
Kinda creepy that they can now.
We have the juice! Jahmyr surely can see that. It’s close to home so his parents can easily come see. Repping the #404Takeover. Plus we can tell him with certainty he’ll be our only RB in the class if he signs on the dotted line. He can be a star for Tech.
Also, why would Jahmyr go to UGAy? I see no reason to do it. They already have a commitment from a RB and have basically told Gibbs that we love you, "BUT" we don't know if we will offer you because we want to wait to see what Zach Evans does first.... WTF is that? They are trying to make our favorite RB a fall-back option and I, for one, won't stand for it. Come ride in our helicopter Jahmyr. You get to sit up front, because you're our favorite.
Brendon Douglas was committed to us at running back until UGAg offered. Then he switched and committed to UGAg. How did that work out for him? IDK, call his mom and she will ask him after he gets done with his chores
Now compare him with another running back from that high school class. Isaiah Willis.
Who left GT with an MBA and a six figure salary.
Added a minor clarification
Doesn't matter. CGC is a big time recruiter. He is bringing in some big players.
