When we kicked the FG in the 3rd quarter, he hurt his ankle on plant foot. Came to sidelines and got it taped pretty heavily. That missed xp was his next attempt. He didn't kick anymore after that (wasn't available).

Sure, I got no problem with that (and not really any problem with Cimaglia in general, he was better than what we had for sure). I was just taking issue with your statistical comparison.

Anyone remember a play a few years ago where Patenaude lined up something like just the center and the quarterback in the middle of the field and the rest of the offense off to one side like it was a backyard play? Snapped the ball and instantly sacked
 
When we ordered this turf from the catalog did we choose “frozen tundra”?

It's a shame to walk through the portal and immediately be embarrassed of our field, before the embarrassment of the game starts kicking me in the nads.

When Miami made their first trip to BDS as a member of the ACC, I had a couple of Miami fans sitting nearby (an actual nice couple) who asked me if our field was some sort of artificial surface because it looked so perfect.

Remember when we developed the system to recycle water so the field can be watered and we had this great drainage system installed that made sure our natural surface never turned to a boggy mess during a game?

Now we know that artificial turf looks like hell and we need to tear it out.

Whoever in GT AA made the decision to put that crap down needs to be canned, yesterday.

And, btw, neither pic is color enhanced in any way. Also notice the angle of the sun, although I have moved seats in the stadium, is nearly identical.

Another issue with the crap Shaw Industries turf is it does reflect light off the surface pretty harshly. I work in the flooring industry and one of our sister companies makes artificial surfaces. If you are in the sunbelt of the south, there is no need for artificial turf in a D1 stadium.

I know it sucks to keep using this excuse for everything, but I doubt anyone in the AA thought turf was better than grass. I'm sure they did it for financial reasons.

Our field was one of the best in the nation (and won at least one award indicating that), and must have cost quite a bit to maintain. The turf costs very little to maintain, and gives us the option of hosting some events if the opportunity arises.

I agree the turf looks awful, but the 2011 game was under the lights. The 2021 game was in sunlight.

Screw hosting events. That is what MB and State Farm are there for. Foo Fighters played GS. We had the Stones and a cancelled GNR concert.

Equivalent of going from a '65 Mustang to a used Honda Accord. Pragmatic, more affordable, easier to maintain, saves money overall, but no one is going to admire the Accord.

There comes a time where you admit to your mistake and correct it. The artificial turf was a mistake and makes our place look low rent

And a cancelled BTS concert.

I agree that hosting events is unlikely to be a significant revenue stream. I think they just highlight that because it sounds better than saying we don't want to keep paying for real grass, similar to how talking about recruiting advantages and mayhem sounds better than saying we want to sell out MBS to ND and Clemson fans.
