Jaybo Shaw Arrested

great, i hope we don't start signing smarter versions of ugag's recruits. Then again smarter may not be right word to use in this situation.

What were the other circumstances surrounding this? Was he being beligerent? Was there a scene made in public? I know he didn't get arrested for drinking at his house, so where was he drinking and what was going on at the time?

Sweet. If we can't actually be in the SEC, might as well act like we are. Good stuff.

He was arrested at someones house along with a bunch of other high school kids. Let's not overreact.

Oh noes a high school kid had a beer...time to get all self-righteous! Drinking incidents don't bother me unless they were driving or being belligerent.

???

Do none of you have highschool aged kids? Or realize how hard police have to justify their employment, so run around arresting teenagers for drinking beer (God forbid, because if you drink beer before you are 21 you will die)? If you think he should have been arrested, you are an idiot. Had his parents woken up and forced to come pick his drunk ass up so they can get pissed off at him? Definitely. But to pretend like anything criminal was going on is just insane.

I just don't see how anyone could actually think this is a big deal.

Thing is, it's a big deal because we made a big deal about the two UGAggers that got arrested back in January. Same basic charge - misdemeanor underage drunkenness.

Yes, I realize that the situations are different (one of them thought a cop car was a taxi), but the basic sentiments are the same.

That said, I do not feel that it is a big deal at all. If they want to have beers at a friend's house, let 'em. As long as they don't drive or wander around town, it's OK by me.

For the record, I specifically defended those gagger players (well, not the DUI part of that one - that is just a bad choice). It hurt me inside but I still stand by my words.

What percentage of players, coaches, students in general, professors, trustees, university presidents, federal, state and local legislators and captains of industry probably had a beer (or two) before they were of legal age?

No way. Jaybo was just having a beer at someone's house. One of those UGA guys flagged down a cop thinking he was a taxi. lol.

This is why I wanted to know more. If they were just drinking at a friend's house, no big deal. BUT, the police had to have a reason - a complaint of some sort - before they would just run into a house and arrest kids for drinking.

:laugher:

That one is right up there with the escalator incident on UGAy's greatest hits.

Perhaps it may have been a wee bit rowdy.;)

I don't think it's a big deal when the UGA guys get caught drinking and I don't think it's a big deal when OUR guys get caught, either. As long as they're not out driving around, who cares? Our part of the country has always been controlled by the christian ayatollah.

Same thing I thought when I saw the defense.

Is it a big deal that he was drinking? Of course not. Is it a big deal when gaggers do it? Only because we like to see them arrested.

I wonder how PJ will react to this, if he does anything at all. Technically, Jaybo isn't a jacket yet, so...

Either way, it's a piddly little charge, but the law's the law. Hope it doesn't impact his ability to get on the flats.
