Jaybo Shaw Arrested

I don't feel bad or hypocritical for laughing at UGA players for drinking, especially one that tried to flag down a squad car thinking it was a taxi. Hell, it was the AJC that headed the article with line about the offseason beginning for the Dawgs. The fact remains that for us, this is an anomaly, for Athens, it's a time honored tradition.

This whole thread is dumb IMO. He got popped with a bunch of other kids because things got too loud. In the old days, the cops would have told them to be quiet and/or told everyone to go home. No big deal and no harm done. If it was my kid I would be more pissed at the cops than at him.

That was in the old days. Times have changed...a lot, much to my chagrin. But probably nothing compared to how they are gonna change over the next decade. I guess we have just gotta roll with the punches...big government, crafty politicians, laws, more laws, and anxious lawyers who never met a law suite they didn't like.

There is also the fact that this happened before Jaybo is really a part of the Tech team. While I think this is embarrassing, I'm not really concerned about it. If this happened while he was at Tech and under the guidance of the football administration, then I would probably actually be concerned.

That's because you're a little pipsqueek dork who enjoys doing the peepee dance anytime something happens in Athens.

Personal foul. Why is laughing at ugag wrong? We should always laugh at them for any possible reason.

1. The drinking age should be 18. College is a better place for experimenting with alcohol that is legal. Until its legal, you drink all you have every time. When its legal, you learn to leave some in the bottle or a beer in the frig. for the next time. Voices of reason, including those of Christians, need to be heard to get this law changed. Some kids will wait to drink if the age is 18 - 21 is so far out they say "no way I'm waiting". Plus, the 18-21 working for a living deserves to legally purchase alcohol.

2. Whatever the law is, parents and adults should obey the law and expect their children to obey or face consequences. There is no way that good parenting involves encouraging or condoning breaking the law. I've raised two kids now 19 and 28 and thankfully had no bad incidents, wrecks, arrests, or worse. Our rules were simple - come home with alcohol on your breath or proof of your drinking and its 30 days without your car keys. Come home with alcohol on your breath and you have been driving, and you are off our insurance. Period. One child tried us one time that we were aware of, but had not been driving. We took his car keys for thirty days, no exceptions. He did not try us again.
Too many heartaches from teen drinking to consider this no problem. Will kids sneak around and try to drink? Absolutely. But, can good parenting minimize the damages caused by teen drinking with firm rules and fair consequences? Definitely.

For anyone curious, this is what the code of Georgia says about the age limits:
§ 3-3-23. (1) No person knowingly, directly or through another person, shall furnish, cause to be furnished, or permit any person in such person's employ to furnish any alcoholic beverage to any person under 21 years of age;

(2) No person under 21 years of age shall purchase, attempt to purchase, or knowingly possess any alcoholic beverage;

(3) No person under 21 years of age shall misrepresent such person's age in any manner whatever for the purpose of obtaining illegally any alcoholic beverage;

(4) No person knowingly or intentionally shall act as an agent to purchase or acquire any alcoholic beverage for or on behalf of a person under 21 years of age; or

(5) No person under 21 years of age shall misrepresent his or her identity or use any false identification for the purpose of purchasing or obtaining any alcoholic beverage.

(b) The prohibitions contained in paragraphs (1), (2), and (4) of subsection (a) of this Code section shall not apply with respect to the sale, purchase, or possession of alcoholic beverages for consumption:

(1) For medical purposes pursuant to a prescription of a physician duly authorized to practice medicine in this state; or

(2) At a religious ceremony.

(c) The prohibitions contained in paragraphs (1), (2), and (4) of subsection (a) of this Code section shall not apply with respect to the possession of alcoholic beverages for consumption by a person under 21 years of age when the parent or guardian of the person under 21 years of age gives the alcoholic beverage to the person and when possession is in the home of the parent or guardian and such parent or guardian is present.

If you are in to obeying stupid laws and all, shouldn't you have called the cops on your kids so they would have had to face the consequences?
