Sims doesn't need to prepare for the combine - he's already being evaluated.

There is a shortage of qualified combine operators in Nebraska and most of the farms around Lincoln will provide on-the-job training.
Combines are pretty easy to work once you get the hang of it. So, no, I think he's probably pretty close to taking that next big step.
"Uh.... Jeff?"
"Sup boss man?"
"We needed the field harvested."
"Effort based!"
"Why on God's green earth did you use the plow instead of the combine?"
"I wanted to turn it over first."

As much as it’s easy to blame Clown, I’ve come around to the idea that Sims was just never a good player. Great athlete but no football IQ and no heart.
TFG hitched his wagon to Sims and apparently didn't give the others a shot. We now have 3 QB's who can all carry the load, if need be, and are pushing each other. That's a good thing.

Leads Nebraska to a loss with a 10 point scoring performance. What a douche. Enjoy a miserable season you quitter.
Agree 100%. How a guy performs or doesn't perform is one thing, but Collins wasn't his coach when he QUIT ON HIS TEAMMATES AND DIDN'T WANT TO PLAY AGAINST GEORGIA. Good riddance, This time I am sure Nebraska will give him a dose of his own medicine and tell him to stay on the bench.

In all fairness to the Nebraska coaches, I suspect Sims was not their first choice in the portal. They took him as a transfer, hoping he'd rise up to his potential in a different environment. Then he won the starting job by default.

Jeff’s family was upset at the criticism he took from Tech fans. They best buckle up. Tech fans are nothing compared to what will be coming his way soon from Husker fans.
Yep... At Tech he could suck in obscurity. And we were generally supportive until he stopped trying

A little harsh. He can run, but is injury prone. And he has a great arm, just every throw is 1.5 seconds late.
Sims is like Tim Robbins on Bull Durham just wanting to throw heat, only Sims just wanted to throw the deep ball. I got tired of watching us try to air it out 50 yards down field on almost every possession.

Is that where the expression "Meat" came from? Our old baseball coach (Jim Morris) called everyone on the team "meat."

“Sims didn't light the world on fire at Georgia Tech and also struggled at times to consistently make throws. Although it was just a spring game, Sims looked outstanding for Nebraska in that game and could have his best year yet.” - Clint Brewster

lol

The answer is clear, Sims can be the Heisman winner every spring.

It was Clown's job to figure out who can get it done and who can't. It's also his job to have the backup prepared. He failed on both fronts.
