Jeff Sims

With the new “rules” that are no rules— paying players unlimited amounts of money and the transfer portal, you don’t know who plays for whom. Sims and King could both be playing on Bama’s roster this time next year. They ruined the worlds greatest sport.

Looks like Jeff Sims is not Nebraska's only problem child. Note the UGA connection in the following article:

Since late August, Arik Gilbert has been in and out of legal trouble, and now he faces his second burglary accusation.

The tight end for Nebraska was taken into custody on Friday for burglary and resisting arrest. Gilbert was arrested in Lumpkin County, Georgia, around 70 miles north of his hometown of Macon.

On the morning of August 29th, he was also taken into custody on burglary charges.

Before 2 a.m., police were called to a liquor and vape shop where he was suspected of robbing the store. After discovering a damaged glass door with heavy cement bits from the parking lot, police said they noticed Gilbert headed toward the exit while holding a suitcase.

The value of everything that was taken was around $1,700.

Head coach Matt Rhule said the 21-year-old sophomore was dealing with personal concerns during his first arrest.

Rhule said Gilbert had been pleased with his job in the spring and summer; he admitted that he had “some problems” during camp and was “trying to overcome them.”

The coach said they have an excellent crew trying to aid him, and last night was a setback. He said he’s sorry for his loss and is sure the business owner is also. But they’ll just have to figure out how to move forward.

Gilbert had spent the past two seasons at Georgia before transferring and becoming ineligible for NCAA play. He also spent a year playing football for LSU.

Gilbert was the 2019 Gatorade National Player of the Year and a five-star tight-end recruit.

During his first year of college football, he caught 35 passes for 368 yards and was chosen to the All-SEC Freshman Team at LSU. He moved to Georgia missed the 2020-21 season. Last year, he made three appearances for the Bulldogs in their title run.
There's a whole 'nother thread dedicated to him.

Wouldn't both have to sit a year?

I’m not a Sims hater but it is unbelievable how this played out exactly how it was expected to go. Like a Swiss watch

<insert “we are who we thought we were gif>

I can see it happens, though. Sims has so much raw talent. I’ll watch him march the team 80 yards down the field then throw an INT in the end zone and think, “it’s just one bad decision.” The problem is that he makes one bad decision over, and over, and over.

Perhaps a short memory is not always a good thing

They’ve both used their free transfer, so they would have to sit a year. There are some exceptions, like if they graduate or if their coach is fired.
Sims was doing all he could to get Rhule fired, but now all he's doing in sitting ready to go in unless it's against a tough opponent, then he's probably not quite available to play.

“Jeff Sims has thrown 47 passes this season and 6 interceptions (13%).

On 32 carries, 3 fumbles.

That's 9 turnovers on 79 plays. A turnover every 9 snaps.

I've never seen anything like it.”
