I betcha Ralph Friedgen could make a QB out of Sims.

I doubt it. He's not a psychiatrist. Sims biggest problems are mental, there is no fixing him, the raw physical talent is meaningless when it is backed up by all the other negative traits. End results are all that matters, for that reason alone Sims sucks and always will unless he can find the magic sport where "potential" is the only thing that matters.

Really thought he could improve with better coaching. Clearly I was wrong.
Aside from a couple who cannot be named, I don’t see how you hire people to coach who don’t know what they’re doing. Someone has to be the fall guy I guess, but I would think if you are getting paid $300k or better a year, you should know how to coach what you got (as opposed to what you wish you had).

I am not quite sure what you do for a living but back in my working days I saw plenty of men and women who could and did BS their way into 6 and 7 figure salaries without having the chops to back it up. It's not just restricted to the coaching profession imo.

Nothing's changed other than you got a ton of training resources to help the bullshitters bullshit better.

I get that, but there are a whole lot of people looking at this and tremendous amounts of money I guess my point is that these guys are either way overpaid, or used as scapegoats when things go bad.

The entire group is always going to be 6-6 on average but everybody expects 8-4 and wants to get rid of anybody falling below that for a couple of years following any success. Therefore coaches are always going to average about 4 years or so at any givn place.

Got any leads? I'm about to retire from my first gig and could use something like that for the next six or eight years.

wish I could help but I left that a long, long time ago. Don't know what you currently do but, if you are thinking about retiring now, surely you have made some contacts within your line of work who hire senior level positions?
