WTF?
I will say this. In the mid 90's there was a very big story on a young man in a GT fraternity who was arrested for rape. This guy was a very important student in the political landscape of the GT student body. The local news and papers gave it a ton of attention flashing his face in his orange jumpsuit at the first legal proceedings. They had "Take back the night" marches outside of the fraternity house with candle light vigils.
The girl in question represented herself as a GT student at an on campus party. They hooked up at the party. At one point, unbeknowst to both of them, the pledges of the fraternity who were cleaning up after the party, spied on both of them getting it on in the kitchen.
Anyway, girl leaves party, proceeds to get arrested on campus in the same night for doing something stupid. Turns out she was 16 and had snuck out of her parents house to come to GT with an older friend. In order to escape the wrath of her angry dad, she told the police that she was raped and was wandering around in disarray.
Without forewarning, they arrested the young man, booked him on rape and he spent the week in jail as the judge set bond. The Prosecuting Attorney even used this as a political opportunity and said how he was going to clean up campus crime. Shortly thereafter, the girl recognizing the totality of her actions admitted she had not been raped. Case dropped.
Was there any word from the local papers? No. Any detraction from the TV stations? Nope. Did the Prosecuting attorney have anything to say? Not a damn word. Did the oncampus chick fest liberal biatches even apologize for their rally in front of the frat house? Nope.
Was the young man's name forever ruined? Yeah. it was.
Be careful what you think you know.
