Jerrard Tarrant charged with RAPE

Pray it's not true.

Any students/insiders around here know anything more than the AJC?

man that's not good news for sure...for him personally or for the team w/ slim depth in the backfield....dang it.
However, it seems this incident occurred in late April and arrested on the 25th...according to the article...so we shall see how this one unfolds..."Georgia Tech football player Jerrard Tarrant has been charged with a rape that allegedly occurred in late April on the Tech campus."
Why is it now just "newsworthy" must be a slow day....and it's finally made it way to the press....5 weeks later...Thank you AJC for that NEWS FLASH!
Plus if they've already suspended him from the team...Will it turn into another case where a courtroom judge orders him to be placed back on the team until the case is decided?

I cannot really speak on this issue into full detail but let the whole process play out and hopefully things will work itself out. Things do not look good for Jerrard in my personal opinion though, the odds are greatly against him. Hopefully during this time he will mature and realize what a great opportunity he actually had at GT. Very disappointing turn of events.

Absolutely couldn't believe it was one of ours when I heard a few minutes ago. Guess there's nothing to do but wait for more information, but it's an all around bad situation from the look of things.

Main thing would be to not paint him too harshly until we do know more. Remember Duke.

I'm from Carrollton, where Jerrard is from and was absolutely shocked to hear the news. I was so excited to see a Carrollton boy get on the field this year, but then something like this happens. I always heard that he was a good kid and am very surprised he would put himself in this kind of situation. I don't know what to say, other than this is a sad day for both Georgia Tech and Carrollton. This kid's entire life is probably ruined.

WTF?

I will say this. In the mid 90's there was a very big story on a young man in a GT fraternity who was arrested for rape. This guy was a very important student in the political landscape of the GT student body. The local news and papers gave it a ton of attention flashing his face in his orange jumpsuit at the first legal proceedings. They had "Take back the night" marches outside of the fraternity house with candle light vigils.

The girl in question represented herself as a GT student at an on campus party. They hooked up at the party. At one point, unbeknowst to both of them, the pledges of the fraternity who were cleaning up after the party, spied on both of them getting it on in the kitchen.

Anyway, girl leaves party, proceeds to get arrested on campus in the same night for doing something stupid. Turns out she was 16 and had snuck out of her parents house to come to GT with an older friend. In order to escape the wrath of her angry dad, she told the police that she was raped and was wandering around in disarray.

Without forewarning, they arrested the young man, booked him on rape and he spent the week in jail as the judge set bond. The Prosecuting Attorney even used this as a political opportunity and said how he was going to clean up campus crime. Shortly thereafter, the girl recognizing the totality of her actions admitted she had not been raped. Case dropped.

Was there any word from the local papers? No. Any detraction from the TV stations? Nope. Did the Prosecuting attorney have anything to say? Not a damn word. Did the oncampus chick fest liberal biatches even apologize for their rally in front of the frat house? Nope.

Was the young man's name forever ruined? Yeah. it was.

Be careful what you think you know.

If he did it I hope he's on the receiving end of a similar act during his stay in the Big House.

His name wasn't ruined forever.

Do you take Tech classes online from California?

Wait--I thought Kyle to online classes from France? :laugher:

Seriously, let justice do its work, but if he did it--he deserves whatever penalty he gets. If not, I hope he can put his life back together.

Oh come on, BOR, don't sell yourself short. I think you turned out fine.

I think I would have rather had 3 team dui's than this one. I pray this isnt true, if it is, I feel sorry for the girl and everyone else that this situation is going to ruin and haunt for the rest of their lives.

One thing I'm confused about is why it's taken so long for this to come about if it was reported in April? Did they just have to get enough evidence, or what?
