That TE is an NFL bound freak if I’ve seen one.. yes a younger juanyeh would’ve tackled him but never seen a guy that big run like that at BDS since Calvin

That TE was good, but let’s be honest, the team started mailing it in 2nd quarter of the ND game. We looked about as interested in playing as we did against Minnesota in the bowl.
 
This isn’t to player bash and certainly not Juanyeh, but there is somewhat of a theme going on where players get pissy that a coach was fired and then players/family blame the fans for the bad season, lack of support, or whatever.

I’ve got news for them. The results on the field are the results of either bad players or bad coaching. Nothing the fans have done or not done explains 100-0 in the last two games, defenders being 15 yards off receivers, or the OL not knowing what it’s doing all season. This “f the fans who got my coach fired” type stuff really turns me off. If it’s not the coach’s fault, then maybe the players need to do some introspection and think about why things were so bad.

This x1000. If the coaches/players were doing their jobs, seats would start filling.

Maybe they all knew Gibbs was gone at that moment (or after that game) and most everybody gave up.

Couldn’t agree more. In the world of the transfer portal players will continue to take advantage of it for one reason or another -head coach fired, coach who recruited me fired, I’m not playing enough, the team sucks, the fans are mean -whatever. This will become par for the course in the coming years.

That being said, for the players who are choosing to leave via the portal, good luck. While coaching is a big issue right now, I personally think some of these players need to take some responsibility for their performances as well. It’s easier I suppose to just walk away and try somewhere else.

In turn Collins needs to take advantage of the portal from Tech’s perspective and bring in players who, for whatever reason, have chosen to leave their school where they originally signed a LOI. I mentioned in another thread that the portal is going to turn college football into MLB during the trade deadline. Players will be coming and going more and more.

This isn’t surprising. I don’t think there were any rumors of the staff losing the confidence of the players. So I would expect a few to be hurt that coaches got cut. It will be up to the new guys to win over the players. If we start winning, you’ll see happier players. Load music and fun at practice is good, but winning is better.
 
Juanyeh was a mixed bag for us. On the one hand, good representative of the program with outreach and clearly showed a lot of promise early. On the other, there's been some drama at times (thanks twitter) even before this coaching staff, his freshman mistakes are less forgivable as a senior, and I honestly question the effort in several games this season. I'll thank him for his time and wish him well, but I'm not going to follow his career with much interest.

Poor coaching my azz, this was his 4th year out of HS, and he still played undisciplined FB.

You want us to believe that Juanyeh had bad coaching from the 9th grade all they way thru his 4+ years at GT (2 different staffs at GT BTW).

8 straight years of being taught to play Safety and for 8th straight years all those coaches taught him wrong?

I hope the kid has a great life, I hope the kid graduates, but I can't say he was a good FB player for us.

Guys like those I listed were "Good Players" for us, maybe there are a couple more Safeties that I can't remember right now, but good players play the Game the right way and do the right things fundamentally.

There's a huge difference between names on the Depth Chart (aka ATL) and good Players

We had a defender run right past the TE from behind close to the LOS, never touched him

So true. It doesn’t matter if you are a neurosurgeon, a professional baseball player or a brilliant fortune 500 CEO. The only people in this life that will ever miss you after you are gone are your friends and family. Your existence is otherwise just as you say, 100% replaceable in every other aspect of life.

We don't just accept losing everytime we see a great Athlete or a fast Athlete, our guys are on scholarship also, they should have the skill to tackle him and stop him.

If he's an NFL Bound Freak, then why do so many around here pine for schemes & genius play-calling, your comment above is a clear cut homage to this oft repeated adage:

"Jimmies & Joes beat Xs & Os"

He's a Day1 Starter if we could recruit him to GT, BTW.
 
I don’t feel like digging through old threads right now, but I remember a LOT of hype around JT back in 2018/2019. He is a talented player who has his ups and downs, and he seems like a great kid who was (and is) a great representative of GT. He played his 4 years at GT and now apparently wants to join his brother somewhere else for his COVID year. Hell, I’d probably do the same thing, if I was in his position.

If you’re so butthurt that you’re talking öööö about a GT player who gave his all for 4 years, then you seriously need to reevaluate your fanhood, IMO.

There's no Stat Line for giving your all, CFB keeps track of many Stats mainly Ws & Ls.

Even after he gave his all, his "all" led to bad angles on Tackles, bad eyes reading the wrong Keys, and constantly getting beat deep.

I find it amazing that everyone can opine so honestly and directly about Jeff Sims and our HC, OC and others but then bite their tongue when it comes to others.

Why are we so quick to tell it like it is when a QB is involved, but then choose our words carefully when a Safety is involved?

I said the same thing in the Yates thread. Great GT rep, got his degree, good luck to him wherever he goes.

Coaches are a different story. Those are professionals who get paid the big bucks to coach. That’s literally their whole job.
