Key’s contract details

Facts and outside perception would say that when a school spends over $10 million to fire their coach and athletic director midseason specifically because the football team is not good enough, that school is interested in rebuilding the football program.

Facts and outside perception would say that if rebuilding the football program wasn't a priority, a school would wait until after the season for the buyout to drop rather than spending extra money and going through the public spectacle of an in-season firing so that they could get a new administration in place for early signing period.

Now, maybe you disagree with how they are trying to do it. Maybe you think they should have taken more financial risk now to or been able to secure more resources now so that we could have hired a different coach. But it doesn't make sense to say that a school which just committed a huge amount of money to buying out their coach and AD so that they could rebuild the football program isn't interested in rebuilding the football program.
You make too much sense for the whiners.

The on-field product became an embarrassment. That forced their hand. The Clown gave them no real option.

Anyone outside Tech can see it clearly. Tech is not currently interested in being competitive in college football. It's just that simple. We are treading water until our next buyout in a few years.

So Georgia Tech was so embarrassed that our football team wasn't competitive that they felt they had no real option other than to spend over $10 million to fire those responsible midseason. Despite this, outsiders can clearly see that Georgia Tech has no interest in being competitive in college football.

It's the reverse psychology surprise angle... We really don't care about succeeding or changing the product on the field, but we don't want our opponents or certain members of our fanbase to know that, so we increase our assistant budget and paid extra to fire the guy who sunk the program for 3 years. They'll never expect it!

You win. Please go be a liberty fan now. We'll be fine here

Give it up. He's not even a good troll.

Everyone I've read outside of GA Tech thinks that was a good hire. Like it or not, financial verities bite you in the butt at times. Stan spent like a drunken sailor betting all the chips that TFG was "The Man." Now we have to pay the piper.

This is so low on the list of things that I worry about. Ultimately I don't give two öööös what anyone inside or outside think about the hire because it's completely irrelevant and changes nothing. We won't know for sure what we have until next season despite how much cortisol one yearns to mainline off a dead hookers ass in the interim. Oh, we will hear from all sorts of experts both "insiders" and outsiders (which is what everyone actually is) because the true insiders aren't going to be talking about it publicly, they are going to be hard at work (or not if some are to be believed, we shall see).

You want the truth of the situation in the most concise way possible, here you go:

If this isn't tech being serious about football, what would that look like? Serious question.

This ship was SINKING. Did you see last year's attendance marks? How low would they have been this year if they had retained Coach Clown? They were losing money hand over fist. They had no ööööing choice but to make a change. Zero. Everyone knows he should have been fired LAST year, but they wouldn't spend the money then to do it. Of course many of us knew he should have never been hired in the first damn place. And now they've hired someone that they can pay even less than Clown. You can't even make that öööö up.

Some of you people must be driving stripped out Nissan Versas and convinced yourselves you actually got a Mercedes on a home town discount.

It's NOT about Coach Key. It's about the Mickey Mouse process and skinflint approach that Tech's administration took which resulted in the cheapest head coaching salary in the ACC . . . maybe all of P5.

I guess lots of this...

If you really believe that Key is a star, then put your money where your opinion is and pay him like a star. If you don't believe he's a star . . . why in the öööö did you hire him instead of hiring a star? Stop looking so damn cheap to everyone in the universe, including especially potential recruits who can tell the difference between a school which is willing to commit the money which is required to win, and one which isn't.

They actually hired a coach who they can and are paying LESS than Clown. Who, I believe, already was third from the bottom of the ACC in salary. Un-ööööing-believable.

What the öööö do you think that says about how serious you are?

Why are you swearing at me? I'm being told I don't know what I'm looking at, and it's true, I don't know anything. All I asked is what I should be looking for. Is that over the line so far that you have to swear at me?

If I understand you through your histrionics, the difference between being serious about football and not is literally just the coaches salary, and we can measure the impact by looking at recruiting results?

I know what your childish antics are saying about you.

Ignore.
