So I actually listened to the post game radio broadcast while driving home yesterday did the first time in a long time. There was an interview with Brent Key that seemed to be before the formal press conference, wondering if anyone else heard this and can corroborate…

Brent Key implied pretty clearly in this interview that there are a number of players who are not bought in and that it’s not fair to those players that are bought in. Said that there’s going to be a number of very difficult discussions this week because of this.

Not to say I’m totally shocked, but what does this mean - some players long for the glory days of the Geoff Collins era? If true, anyone still on the Jazzy Jeff train should be purged… we don’t need that cancer.

I didn’t hear it, but if I had to guess, it’ll the clown era involved players more interested in themselves than the team. Exhibit 1: Jeff Sims.

That’s going to be a problem everywhere, though, because of the portal and NIL. Many players are mercenaries looking for the biggest payday.

You heard correctly. My son and I looked at each other like WTF. Key has been here for all five years, so you think he would know the problems before game 7.

That’s what happens when you keep half the staff of a failed regime. Should have cleaned house with a complete overhaul. Beat UNC last year when they were ranked at the time I guess lol

This is my issue. We're 7 games in, and you're just now noticing some players haven't "bought in"??? Sounds like more finger pointing that will result in nothing of substance on the field.

Sure. You $8+ million to do so? My guess that’s an easy answer of no. Based on the last coaching search and how it ended, the list of candidate’s wouldn’t be great….
Exactly right. Two things; 1) If you keep firing coaches every two years, you have no chance to build a recruiting base at all, 2) What coach worth a crap would come to a school (with academic limitations anyway) that is likely to fire you after losing a few games?

Wrong. This what happens you change cultures. Let's face it, some of the players that clown recruited were here for the party, now the party is over. You can keep staff of the previous failed regime just like Hugh Freeze kept Cadillac; this is a problem of going from having the Waffle House truck at practice versus having George O'leary Junior as trained by Saban as head coach. The O'leary/Saban attitude towards practice is the polar opposite of the festivals to entertain the players the clown held.

It may be something he’s known for a while but this is the first time he’s said anything

the team room looked to be pretty happy across the board when he was named HC last year

I’d like to know what he means by bought in - especially after calling a timeout to punt the ball yesterday

We didn’t change cultures. Should have. Kept the circus

It would've been better for GT if we'd lost that game

Even in our win over Miami, Key seemed like one of the guys, a buddy to players. I still don’t believe this is the correct HC relationship for success. If it is, it never was before.
This is true. You don’t go from yukking it up with players for three years, doing Instagram shorts, turnover cams, and sideline juice crews to being a hard ass in one season. He’s still one of the ringleaders as far as some players are concerned.
