Key post game interview on radio - divided locker room?

If they are essentially pout quitting, they are not high caliber players.

It's like all the talk about Sims was great except for xyz... when the bottom line is Sims was terrible, he sucked. You have to consider the whole package because that's what is going to be out on the field. Attitude is as important of an attribute as anything else, so if guys have some ability but aren't giving the effort and failing as a result, they aren't high caliber players. Potential, unrealized is worthless.
so what do you call gibbs at end of season before transferring out? seemed like a high caliber player pout quitting. but not buying in may not necessarily mean pout quitting. could still be performing well, but just lack confidence in coaching staff because they know system isn't working, and CBK blaming losses on "not buying in" instead of poor coaching. not saying i believe this is case, just pointing out possibility we could be overlooking.

If you are in charge of something and it fails, it is human nature to blame others. The coach that is unsuccessful blames anonymous players who haven’t performed or haven’t bought into the program. If you want to go back in history during Hitler’s last days in his bunker, he blamed his generals. There are more recent examples in politics, but I don’t dare mention it on this board.

Years ago Andrew Jones was lackadaisical going after a fly ball that fell in front of him. Bobby Cox took him out and read him the riot act in private. The next day Jones was in the starting lineup. When asked by reporters why he didn’t sit him on the bench for any other games, he said my job is to put the best team on the field in order to win games. I can’t do that with Andrew Jones on the bench.

Terrible comparison.

You’re describing a situation in professional sports, where 20- and 30-something year old men understand that you don’t pay a guy millions to sit.

Also, Bobby Cox didn’t make toughness and commitment the pillars of his coaching philosophy.

Is P5 football not a professional sport under NIL?

Ok. College coaches have never allowed great players with bad attitudes to continue to play.

This entire thread is centered around three words by the OP: "pretty clearly implied", referring to whatever Key said in the post-game lockerroom show. Nobody has told us or even asked what Key said that "pretty clearly implied" that there are problems in the locker room. The implication COULD have been in the ear of the listener. I would like to know what he actually said, and in response to what question the radio host asked. Until and unless we know that, then we are all just making assumptions based on what two posters said was "pretty clearly implied." Before I go throwing any players or Key himself under the bus, I want to know more. We should all want to know more.

I was one of the fellas who wasn’t happy with the hire of Key. But I think he’s got a lot going against him. One, we evidently don’t have the money other programs do, and that prevents us from hiring staff and paying players. Two, in today’s environment, any diamond in the rough we may acquire will likely be gone for more money in the portal. Three, nobody knows Key. He can’t walk in a recruits house and say he’s gonna get him in the nfl (like our Bball coach can with the nba).

This is why it is vital for our transfers to shine. Go into that recruits house and show him that you can get a factory wash out into the league. It’s going to take time to do that.

That and we need to revamp the defensive staff.

Sure they have. How many mediocre teams can you name that were made great because talented players prone to taking plays off and also had bad work ethics and attitudes were allowed to play?

2014 GT - Waller was a ööööshow for two years. I don’t think he would have improved by sitting. He came around when we needed him.

WVU with Randy Moss

WSU with Ryan Leaf

Honestly, this is the big advantage the factories have. Gibbs could have never done what he did at AL. He would have never seen the field again.

Did you mean Gibbs could of never done what he did here at AL?

So Key is Hitler?

I don't know what was going on. BC beautifully used their TE's. Really liked that damn power formation they used a few times. One WR, One RB, One QB, Eight OL and TE's. They made several nice throws to TE's. They just played power football when they needed.

I don't recall any big play to a TE on our side.

I just don't know what is going on and I think our team doesn't either as the game rolls along.
Not to take away from your point but Haynes King connected with Dylan Leonard on a beautiful seam. Was an awesome throw and catch. Don’t disagree with your point but that was one of the better TE plays I’ve seen from us.
