Key post game interview on radio - divided locker room?

Frist the players Deion got to come to Co I would bet 1/2 the players couldn't get into Tech.

Any new head coach needs to get 3 years to build his staff and the players he wants. It took Ross 2 1/2 years and yes I know he was a head coach before coming here. But in a way Key is having to do the same thing Ross did, coming after a so-called player coach who was easy on the players, and changing things to practicing harder than they did in the past.

If he has players or coaches that are a problems I would think changes will be made this year, as for the coaches I can see waiting till the end of the year.

I understand after the last head coach fans are tired of waiting but you can't fire a coach every year who do you think you can get after firing Key at the end of the year.
If we do not have significant coaching changes after the season, there is a major problem,.

yall keep blaming the players who favored clown as not buying in, but how you know its not the higher caliber players who haven't bought in because they didn't like clown and wanted a better coach and don't see that in calls timeout for a punt CBK?

Dam son, when you're sober you're like a whole different poster.

While my initial reaction is to agree, remember what PJ harped on for a decade about expectations needing to be backed by resources. PJ's entire tenure was mired in terrible, budget DC hires. So long as we keep seeing people bitch about the state of the program and holding their wallets, we'll be in the same boat for Key but without a legendary play caller on offense.

Even more of a reason to get rid of Key and start anew.
I too, listened to that spot. First of all Key has a terrible voice, he's always growling and is hard to understand. He speaks too fast and sometimes fumbles with words and has to stop to refocus! He needs take a speech course. and don't get me started on his coaching attire, a GT sweat shirt with cute cut off sleeves, come on, you're not one of the players now! rant over!

Hopefully at worst Key is a bridge to relieve some of the budget constraints. If he can manage to hold down the fort and claw back some of what we lost during the Clown era (and not do any new damage), maybe Batt can get us back onto more solid financial footing with a plan for the future. Firing Key now and taking on another buyout is the antithesis of what the plan seems to be. He’s just got to find a way to hold up the on-field end of things.

It took O'Leary a few years to get us to a bowl and then we were legit. I pray that's the case with Key. However, HE MUST hire some better assistant coaches on both sides of the ball. I think this is non-negotiable.

As far as us fans wondering what J Batt has in his plans for Tech football, we might wonder if J Batt has plans even staying at Tech? He's young, he's learning, he might have plans for leaving to a more stable situation.

Jesus. How hard is it to bench guys that aren’t doing what they’re asked or are playing at <100%?!?

Not a hard decision. If that’s happening then he’d better do something or he will lose respect of every player on the team.
Years ago Andrew Jones was lackadaisical going after a fly ball that fell in front of him. Bobby Cox took him out and read him the riot act in private. The next day Jones was in the starting lineup. When asked by reporters why he didn’t sit him on the bench for any other games, he said my job is to put the best team on the field in order to win games. I can’t do that with Andrew Jones on the bench.

I don't remember that.

If they are essentially pout quitting, they are not high caliber players.

It's like all the talk about Sims was great except for xyz... when the bottom line is Sims was terrible, he sucked. You have to consider the whole package because that's what is going to be out on the field. Attitude is as important of an attribute as anything else, so if guys have some ability but aren't giving the effort and failing as a result, they aren't high caliber players. Potential, unrealized is worthless.

Have you seen who the DC of the No. 6 ranked football team is? That budget DC hire here seems to be doing OK in that "environment".
Got a Friend in the know at OU says Venables is calling all the defense, Roof just there for moral support.
