Key post game press conference

Key called it like it was at 3:00 then his PR guy gives him a message at 3:47, probably asking him to restate or clarify, and Key pretty much blows it off.

It’s not the same game I grew up with. It’s a new era no doubt and football in general is less enjoyable with the changes that have come over the last decade. True of many other things in the world also but that’s a different rabbit hole altogether. Gotta change with the times or live in the past.
Cool, in that case, I decide to live in the past. The only logical choice, since existence does nothing but get worse every day, every way. Now, get the öööö off my lawn.

Existence gets worse every day? How about communication. Years ago you wouldn’t have been able to tell everybody how miserable things are.

The last regime left more talent than this regime did, that's the point I was trying to make.
We had talent in 2018. Then we went all in on a bunch of hype artists. They destroyed our program, now we're a complete mess. The faster we run them off the better.

We have several quality players for the next coach. Not as many as the previous guy inherited from Johnson but we do have some. I just hope the next coach can keep them.

To your point, we lost a lot of the hype artists last year by graduation but we still have many on the team. I believe the chemistry on the team is fractured because the young guys got here and saw the wussification of the upper class men, starting with the QB, and realized they walked into bizzaro world. That’s why I don’t blame the Ivey’s, Gibbs, Bennetts for transferring. They saw the incompetence and gave it a good effort but they ultimately had to look out for themselves. I just hope these current young guys give the next coach a chance to prove himself. If not, we’ll just start from scratch. We are use to it by now.

Are we though? I guess it depends on how long you've been a fan, but it's probably been at least a couple decades since we started from scratch. Gailey, Johnson, and Collins all inherited bowl teams. You have to go all the way back to O'Leary to find a Tech coach who really had to start from scratch.

For all the (justified) talk about Tech lacking committment to winning, how mediocre we are, etc., we were consistently average or better for a really long time before Collins showed up.

Key couldn’t say “refused to go in” because it would make Key look weak for not doing something about the situation. Key was mad so he had to drop a clue as to what the situation actually was. Key also doesn’t want to get a reputation as a coach who goes out of his way to blame players, as Key will be interviewing for jobs in the future.
Key is not going to throw any player under the bus- even a fckng quitter like Simss
