Kids dont love it

The players probably also know him on a personal level and know he's a good guy who cares about them and is having his life turned upside down. I'm sure they also know they are partly at fault for his failures, and feel like öööö about the whole thing. I'ts not fun to realize you suck.

Then they go online and see people talking about how if he takes the buyout we should drag Collins outside and physically beat him, how they're going to take a picture of Collins to the firing range and aim for his face, etc. The natural reaction to that isn't going to be, "Oh yeah, he deserves that because we didn't play well enough", it's going to be to defend him.

I don't care if it would be worse at other programs, the personal attacks we're making on Collins right now are ridiculous and frankly an embarrassment to a fanbase that likes to talk öööö about how other fanbases are full of assholes. Neither Collins nor the players are above criticism, and they've certainly earned plenty of it, but the way we're attacking our own is unacceptable.
I agree with this, but dang that dude is insufferable! My attacks on him have dropped significantly since his firing. I imagine most folks will let it go over the course of the next few days.

Surprised to see the battered wife syndrome support comments. They’re probably thinking they deserved that black eye because the dinner was cold, that broken nose because his drink got spilled, etc.

Cgc employed a term early on called 'holding the rope'.

It's apparent with recent results that they had a pattern of letting go of the rope, and it has become a habit, hence the 40+ defeats.

If the players don't see the failure, I don't know What to do for them.

I do follow a lot of players and commits on IG, and numerous commits made posts expressing surprise or even shock about this. Which I found interesting, how could anyone be surprised Collins got fired?
We now live in a generation where kids are taught that winning isn’t the most important thing anymore. Remember everyone is a winner despite how one played the game.

We had a coach that talked about players who got blanked by G5 teams as playing at an elite level. Who amped them up every day as if they were king öööö despite getting blown out every Saturday. The players have been acting like this for a couple years, it's just impossible to ignore now.

Fine if they want to leave the program, they can go ahead and do so.
Remember the worst loss in ACC history;
70 to 7 at home against Clemson--our players stayed on the field after the game laughing, hugging & taking pictures with the Clemson players, what a joke.
I don't really care what they want or don't want.

Nope. As a player you do not get to complain about the fire.

If you loved Collins and you wanted him to be your HC, then you should’ve played harder and won, or at least not get embarrassed.
Right on! They need to look in the mirror.

Players can enter the poral and follow him to his next coaching job....

Yall quit big crying me like I didn’t have “Fire the son of the bitch” as my statement under my profile pic lol. Sure that disclaimer will ward off future poo and bigcrys. Anyway:

Give them a day or so to complain, but it's not exactly coming out of nowhere. By midweek, Key needs to remind them GT football is bigger than Geoff Collins. And bigger than them. GT football did great things before they were born. GT football will do great things after their time here is done. They can still be part of something great, something bigger than themselves, it's up to them. If not, they should go. Don't try to keep people who don't want to be there.
