KING OUT? - Nah King is back baby.

Key won’t tell us no matter what. They haven’t even disclosed the injury. Good. No reason to disclose more than the minimum required. The fact that he’s practicing basically tells me what I need to know. Are we tearing out the north or south goal posts?
Yes.

“I need an excuse for not making a bowl game this year, so we’re gonna hold King out”

Lol. What's going on with you? Are you a good friend of CGC's or something?

It will be probably Key’s 2nd year of 6 wins and sneaking into a bowl game (at best depending on outcome of NCSU).

When should we expect more than 6 wins?

Clown responses.

Glad you guys think 6 regular season wins and a öööö bowl is all Key needs to sustain.
I expected more than 6 wins this year. I look over in Tallahassee and see the Federal Budget sized contract they gave Norvell and see all the NIL funded 4* and 5* guys they reeled in and what their record is and its a little scary to think that could happen here. We are playing 3-card monte with our financial resources and can't afford another major F-up. So no, I'm not complacent with 6 Ws when I thought 8 was within reach. But I also think we can give the guy some time to do his job. If our talent level keeps trending upward I think we'll be in Top-25 territory by next year.

But one thing I am more and more certain of every year is that winning is less about having 5* guys all over the place as much as it is not having 2* guys at any position. That one weak spot will kill you. And I think we have more than one. Until we fix that problem, add all the 4* guys you want and all the zillion dollar staffs you want and it won't help. Ask F$U.

That's good enough for the first two years considering where we started from and the schedule this year. I was/am hoping for 7+ this year but we are not deep enough to overcome the injuries we've had. That needs to change in the future but I'll cut him some slack this year

Next year is when I start to judge. I need at least 8 next year. Key needs to improve his game day coaching, keep our current talent, keep the recruiting class strong, fill a few areas of need through the portal and put it all together on the field. Not an easy task but that's the job and next year's the time to prove he's the man for it.

Time to be the schedule argument to bed:

Go back and look at 2023 results and standings vs. current 2024

Common opponents:
UL went to ACC championship last year so worse this year
UGAg will be a wash
Da U better this year
Cuse better this year
UNC worse this year

Gimmes:
SC St & Bowling Green vs. VMI & GaSt - Wash

Clemson vs. FSU - Clemson was better
Ole Miss vs. ND - Wash

Other ACC:
Wake, BC, UVA vs. Duke, VT, NC St - Wash (circle of suck)

There's not really an appreciable different in schedule strength now that we are this deep into the season.

Comparing 23 & 24 they are pretty close. Was hoping to pick up an additional win or two this year.

I'm saying on paper, the schedule looks easier next year and we need to get at least 8 wins for me to feel we are moving in the right direction

We have to get better at Special Teams. This should be the easiest of the three units for us to excel versus other teams. Instead it has been a disaster.
