The problem is the defense isn't much different going back to last year either. I agree the offense (probably) won't always be as sputtery, but unless the defense gets better we won't likely improve on anything over last year.

No one seems to be giving any credit to the Syracuse QB who started & managed to win 11 games, admittedly with a different supporting cast, at Ohio State.

Not the same ole "Cuse, anymore than we were the same GT with TFG before Haynes King came to The Flats.
 
Cuse was able to stop the run and their DBs did a good job in coverage. We still scored 28, that should be enough to win a conference game.

Their QB ate our lunch. He was patient and put together long drives preventing our O from developing any rhythm. Good plan and execution by the home team.
