Lil Joe arrested for DUI and hit and run...

That's a tough spot for DRad to be in.

Joe adds a lot to the staff, but DUI+hit and run is a pretty bad combination.

I wish we could give a second chance but with all of this i just dont see him staying on staff.

Doesnt look good for Joe. Its very disappointing, people need to make the most of their great chances given to them and not throw them away. Some of us had been backing Joe for a while to get on the staff and had put faith in him, in my opinion I can no longer stand up for Mr. Hamilton this is absolutely intolerable.

That's tough....for so long so many wanted to see him here....but you put yourself (DUI, Fleeing scene of accident, and having MJ on ya) in those type of situations and bad things are going to happen sooner or later. Losing his job is probably the least of the punishment he is facing. He may find himself serving some time behind bars...Tough but sounds like he's got some issues to work on personally before he is able to hit the field again to work on his football career...This could be the biggest fumble of his coaching career....and it puts a black mark on his resume...
Wouldn't expect him to be able to retain his job...best of luck Joe & I hope this issue makes you confront the bigger issues at hand... On the other side...OH the UGA fans gonna have fun with this one

not to be an a-hole, but maybe there were reasons that Gailey opted not to put JoeHam on the staff, and everyone crucified him for it, but maybe he had a closer view...

also, i hope this finally puts to rest the whole "discipline under O'Leary" thing that popped up a lot when Gailey was getting criticized for not being enough of a disciplinarian. i was at Tech during that time, and i KNOW FOR A FACT that what joe got busted with was a common thing among the team at that time. the big joke was to make sure everyone got enough fluids, like enough cranberry juice

this sucks, though! JH could have been in a position of leadership, but his actions have forfeited that for now

Chan could not give Joe a job because he had not received a degree yet.

I think he's messed up a great opportunity. I hope he can keep his head up, but this will really set him back. Yeah, Georgia fans are gonna like this one. But I've never really liked them anyways.

No big loss in my opinion. He's a has been. Plus, he's a terrible public speaker. Sounds like he learned to talk from Carl at the Sling Blade Toastmaster Club.

Hey Dodd, tell us how you really feel.

Aside from all the other talk, the radio was saying he was arrested on Techwood Dr. Why would he have been driving drunk and high around on campus? Had he been hanging out at a frat party or something? I think that adds to the stupidity level of the offense quite a bit.

Let it soak in that this hurts the FB program in two ways:

1. It was Joe Hamilton
2. It was GT.

I refuse to deny my respect I had for Joe Ham coming in. With saying that I really didn't know much about his character, other than he was a class FB player, and obviously saw the importance in finishing his degree. I am sure that this will hurt Joe as much as it does fans. Truly a bad day for the program.

He might live downtown.

Yeah, dude, pretty dumb. He shoulda just taken the Stingerette. That's what it's there for. :)

I hate it when my friends drink and drive.

If you have at least a steady pay-check, call a cab. How hard is it to call a cab?

Pretty much all you can say is "damn, thats a shame".

Hope he gets back on his feet, but not the easiest one to recover from when its this public.

Why does everybody think they have to blow a little sunshine up chan's ass every time something negative happens to our program now??? He wasn't a great disciplinarian and his teams were soft...hence he is no longer here and we are gonna be better because of it...This is about JoeHam, and this should cost him his job....even so, he is still one of my all time favorites to ever wear the white and gold!! Lets just hope he learns from it and moves on...

What an idiot... This is really disappointing. I was really excited he was hired, but we have to let him go now. IMO this is worse than when a current player does this because he is an adult and is supposed to be an employee of GT.

His duties include assisting with recruiting and helping the players.

Let's hope "score weed" isn't tacked onto the end of the above sentence. Clearly he took some idiotic actions... but I'm also concerned about follow questions likely to come up as people dig deeper. Where was he? Where did he get the pot? Who else was there?

I agree with you on this. It is sad though
