This is why all this marketing stuff and scrapping the option was important. This is why you better hope Collins figures it out.

We are teetering on the edge of having no fans. The old guard is dying off with no one to replace them. Gailey’s boring offense and losing to UGA lost is a decade of potential sidewalks fans. The triple option lost us another decade because very few people under 60 find it entertaining. Casual fans certainly do not.

you can blame tv, Covid, whatever you choose but the fact of the matter is our fan base hit a zenith in the late 90s/early 00s and it is absolutely dwindling.

It doesn’t help that our fans are only vocal when we’re losing. Just look at this board the day before NIU compared to the day after.

This. I think we win 4-5 games because of the circle of suck. Sims will have a few good games while the other team gives us some turnovers. So if we beat KSU and Duke then between UVA, Pitt, BC, VT, and UNC we may win another 2 or 3 depending how inept they play versus our ineptitude.

The talent is there to hang with all but a few teams, and I imagine they'll have at least a handful of games where they play/coach better than they did Saturday. There are games like Pitt and UVA that they could win similar to wins vs. FSU and Louisville last year.

Duke is the only game left that I'm reasonably confident we win, though, and that's counting this weekend's game.
 
Loeffler! How did that guy get a HC job? He was the worst OC ever at like 5 different schools. Now he's on the hot seat. Duh

just be glad someone’s talking. If we don’t start winning with some buzz there won’t be anyone complaining about losses in 10 years and 33K will be considered a monster crowd.

ESPN has us favored in two games the rest of the way, by FPI
Saturday against the Owls.
Against Duke. By a smidgen.
And that's it.

Collins has been successful on the recruiting trail and absolutely killed it in the transfer portal.

Now all we need is coordinators. Lose faith all you want but at least he can recruit. That’s 1/3 of the recipe we have to have.

Not remotely a valid comparison. GT football has been losing for several years, including the day before the NIU game. Stop blaming fans for the football team sucking.

It's not hyperbole to say that today we are at the bottom of what we have known as GT football for almost four decades. It has to get better really freaking fast and the fans aren't to blame

Not remotely what I was saying. My comment was in reference to the lack of fans, and the ever dwindling fan base that started early Gailey. It’s not a new phenomenon that a large portion of our fans only post on here after a loss - never during the off season and never after a win. Just look at how many we have posting this week that still have the “varsity lurker” moniker with join dates several years ago. It’s like our fans only like the miserable times.

There are the flip side fans too. Ones who only post after wins.

I wouldn't extrapolate from people that post on StingTalk. Some of those people are uga trolls, some are Georgia Southern fans that just came here when PJ came here and come back when bad things happen to gloat, etc, etc.

Look at the stands and look at the ages of the people in the stands. It's not hard to picture that 10 years from now a lot of those people aren't walking up those stairs anymore. We have had an old fanbase for over 20 years.

I grew up only attending Tech home games. Never went to another stadium until the early 2000s I went to a UT game and was blown away how many fans they had that were in their 20s and early 30s. Tech games were always students, 40 and up parents, and grandparents.

Atlanta is one of the youngest cities in America and we have one of the oldest fanbases.

I know everyone thinks TStan is an idiot but the fact of the matter is he sees the cold hard numbers on attendance, donors, etc and has demographic information on them and he knew we had to try to do something to make Georgia Tech cool and attract younger fans because the silver tsunami of boomers dying off is going to crush this program otherwise.
