Make your case in defense of Geoff Lewis here

He cares a lot. He wants GT to be great. He has a vision for success at GT. He can recruit very well. He’s still young.

His problem is completely strategic and preparation. Someone mentioned the lack of penalties as a positive and it really is. Maybe he made some changes about how to address that. If so, it is possible he will make changes to become successful in the other areas.

He has a huge buyout. That’s another defense for him.

Geoff's contributions to the program so far have been concrete and durable: talent. He's recruiting well and branding very well.

Geoff's major game administration issues can he fixed in relatively short order: clock management, on-field personnel management, on-field communication. These are all just decisions he has to make differently, and we will look markedly less clownish.

Geoff's long term schematic issues can be resolved with some consulting or coordinator changes: defending against tempo, whatever the hell is wrong with the offense.

There's time in this season for a sharp turn towards being serious football people, and there's time before next season to emerge prepared for the modern game. The goodwill Geoff has bought us in the media has so far not completely eroded, and what he's secured on the recruiting trail will be with us for years.

Don't poo me, the OP told me to defend him.

The very same people crying to fire Collins after 2.1 years are the exact same idiots who sat in the basketball forum constantly defending and coddling Pastner for approximately 4.75 years.

Watching the double standard take place is amazing

Dude…. Who cares about your point you keep making over and over again. It’s much easier to lose a basketball game in an upset than football.

Can he be relegated below the line and let (no ideas) someone worthy on staff lead the team next week?

I’m talking about season not games. Pastner sucked for years and was defended is my point

Any posters specifically? I don’t recall more than a vocal minority of posters defending Pastner. Using that as some sort of argument to defend Collins and his staff looking totally unprepared to play and showing little to no improvement in Year3 is bizarre.

But it matters not, with T-Dope giving Collins a long contract and buyout, Collins isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Let’s hope that he improves.

I have defended both. It seems that Pastner may have learned from his past mistakes. I hope Collins can learn from his.

Collins has not lost this team after 2 difficult seasons. That is significant.

We had our lowest home opener attendance since prob the 30s and other big games were on tv so maybe not slot of people saw it.

He might lose it this season
