Chan Gailey did fine recruiting by hiring a clown like Collins. OBrien would just have to do the same.

Chan had one or two pretty good years. If we’re going to compete with Clemson, UGa, etc, we have to consistently recruit top 10 classes. At this point, I’d be thrilled if we recruited and retained 5 top 25 classes in a row.

Agreed. What he did at Penn State in the wake of Sandusky and the scholarship reductions was incredibly impressive. He wasn't a bad coach with the Texans either (though he was a horrible GM).

I'm not sure he is my first choice, but that would not be a bad hire.

Name 1 recruit we have had you'd take over Calvin Johnson. Hell, name 1 you'd take over Demaryus Thomas. Name a defensive lineman recruited since 2008 you'd take over Vance Walker. A LB you'd take over Phillip Wheeler. A DE you'd take over Michael Johnson. A RB you'd take over Jonathan Dwyer.

About the only player in the past 3 years I would even try to compare would be Wheeler and Charlie Thomas.

I hated BOB as our OC but he came in right after Friedgen so those were big shoes to fill, literally. Not the most exciting hire, but also not the worst. Does feel like a Chan Gailey type hire
 
Have a friend if a friend who is apparent super close with Batt. He has been saying BOB is Batt’s pick. FWIW. I took it with a grain of salt but there seems to be a lot of rumors to that end.
