I have a question. Anyone else notice the difference on how the media treat Collins different than they did Paul Johnson? With Johnson it was all about his behavior, his lack ability to recruit, how he blames players... The list can really go on. However; most were, what I would call, negative. However; with Collins, I see more "sunshine and daisies" type reports. Latest being how culture matters more than winning. What complete and utter BS! Call me a negative person, but since when has "culture" grew a fan base? Since when has "culture" awarded you TV deals? What recruit what to play for a team with great "culture", over a winning record? I don't get why Collins continues to get a pass....

Hands down the dumbest öööö I've seen. And only needed the Title to figure that out. I wouldn't be surprised if he started the website and wrote the article. This guy is the worst USED Car salesman...actually maybe the best. I can only hope that after we go 1-6 at home and 2-10 maybe 3-9 on the season, that He and Todd decide to open a dealership. It's not like he can't afford it, he gets a Milly per W

Well, Paul Johnson treated the media like öööö. So they treated him like öööö in return. Not really that complicated.

Dude was an unnecessarily ornery asshole.
He won though.... case closed. Besides Ross and Dodd and if you want to get cute Heisman, he's the best to coach on the flats. O'Leary left us... and Gailey couldn't win a big game. So yeah, there for I award you no points and you can remove Collins' taint from your chin

Oh yeah. I really enjoyed all his “winning” outside of two seasons.

Post 2014, he sucked donkey dick and wasn’t going to get any better.

Even still, he won more games than Collins did. What's Collins' best season? 3 wins in 3 seasons. CPJ. Only had one 3 win season, in 2015, I think.
This thread isn't making an argument of Collins vs CPJ. All the old CPJ lovers keep doing that. Just because Collins isn't better doesn't mean that where we were headed with CPJ was acceptable. People seem to not understand this or have the mental capacity to differentiate the two.

Almost like… well… maybe I shouldn’t talk about politics.

You make that statement like any of us are happy with the results. As others have said, there are more than two options here. You CAN be unhappy with CPJ’s results AND be unhappy with CGC’s. Some of us are just giving him this last year to turn it around before moving on.

This. And we all loved it while he was winning.

Winning more than Collins isn’t the bar and shouldn’t be used to deify this asshole
Call CPJ what you want. He won games. Saban isn't a saint either, yet people want to play for him. You don't have to like the guy, you don't have to date the guy, you just want him to do his job. Maybe I look at things differently.. I want to see results.. However; I am a policies type person. I take emotions out of the equation.

I will add Bobby Dodd was known for being a complete asshole. Yet, there is a stadium named after him.

Because he won consistently and over a long period. CPJ won in bursts then fizzled out. That’s the difference. Had CPJ kept winning, we wouldn’t have cared about his attitude.

He ran into a little bit of it very early in his tenure when Chernoff tried to play "gotcha" one day in a radio interview and PJ gave it back to him. And PJ's relationship with the talking heads in Atlanta never recovered from that.
The sports talk morons in Atlanta — I know, that doesn't narrow the field any — never bought into PJ's style and his offense and his directness.
He had a good rapport with most of the print guys. Hell, look at KQ's tweets over PJ getting nominated for the HoF. Schultz is a big PJ fan because, as Schultz said, he won't try to BS you. If anyone can find that old "We Never Played the Game" podcast where Klein and Schultz sat down with PJ, it is very entertaining and eye-opening.
PJ and Ken had a good relationship - any time Ken needed something from PJ for a story, he almost always got it. Except for injury news. PJ told him to get it through him and Ken, trying to do his job, went around him a couple of times to get it and PJ did not like that. But he never took it out on Ken. In fact, when Ken wanted to do a story on PJ's daughter and her opera career, PJ obliged.
As for Bark Madly ... well ... he had his talking points and his narrative and damn if he wasn't going to stick to them.

If you listen to some of PJ's weekly press conferences, there's good give and take. However, PJ does not suffer fools gladly.
You can read back through the transcripts of his post practice interviews with the Annapolis beat writer when he was at Navy and some were damn funny as hell. He also had a great rapport with the media when he was in Statesboro. Winning helped, sure, but I think those guys also got his sense of humor — dude can be really, really sarcastic — and they understood what he was trying to do. Shoot, there were a couple of reporters there covering a basketball game and they went into PJ's office nearby before tipoff and drew up plays with him instead of covering the first half of the game.

O'Leary was no joy to deal with from the media side, from what I have been told.

I think this article is BS, it appears that the author is still on the Collins Hype train. I think Collins should be bought out and we should hire someone else. I still have no clue why DC Thacker is around.

Agree it shouldn't be CPJ vs. CGC. However the conversation should be "Should CGC still be here? Once he is gone who should be the next coach?"

I think some will pine for Jeff Monken/Ken N/BrianB. I am on the fence with that, as I think we might want to look at younger guys like Jamey Chadwell.

This is back to the original point folks have been trying to get across... no that should not be the conversation right now. That was the conversation we had at the end of last season. No changes were made at HC but he was pretty much forced to make some staff changes and then had to replace some guys leaving. So now give these new guys this season to see if we have a net positive and if not, then it's time to start those conversations.
