Miami Duke game

They tried mightily, but they couldn't do it. The idiot Blue Devils couldn't tackle the Canes with umpteen laterals. Congratulations, Hurricanes.

ACC wanted Duke to win soooo bad; but they knew the play was headed to Sports Center as they were reviewing. An imaginary call stealing the game from Miami would have been a huge story.

I couldn't believe the refs stopped the clock at the end.

Guess cheating ACC refs have started allowing Duke to win.....in football.

Who would have thunk?

GO JACKETS!!

Guess I turned off the video too early...

Opps....

I think the real issue was that there was no flag thrown. The head ref tried to make a case before the review that there was a block in the back, but no one had thrown the flag. So, they determined in review, no forward laterals, no knee on the ground, and no block in the back. Justice.

But seriously, dude was clearly down at the 25.

It was really close and really hard to tell. They had such lousy camera angles, just like the TD I guess they had no choice but to go with the on field ruling.

What's insane is that no one from Duke bothered to try to actually tackle. Looked like a bizarre game of ultimate frisbee or something.

ACC was torn between a great story and a Duke win, it was a tough decision which is why the review took so long.

Down at the 25, block in the back at midfield and looked like one on Duke's 20. I hate Miami, so kinda sucks they pull this out of their asses.

What was with all the Duke players just standing around mid-play?! Probably the second dumbest thing I have watched all day!

After the 4-5 laterals, at which the Miami player was starting to run forward, there seemed to be a block in the back on about the 15-16 yard line. I have watched about 5 times waiting for the refs to come down with the decision. Oh well....:squint:

Duke seemed too preoccupied trying to maintain whatever strange defensive formation they were in rather than grouping up and going at the ball

So, was there no flag and the ref just said it or was there a flag that they overturned the penalty upon review?

I don't care either way, but seemed fishy.

I don't remember seeing an actual flag thrown, I could be wrong. The whole thing was the opposite of by the book.

There were no flags on the field during the replay. He announced a block in the back prior to the review, and after an hour or so came back and said the block in the back was actually in the side so there was no penalty, and the knee was never down.

So, can the referee say that there is a penalty and enforce it even if a flag is not thrown? He went so far as to say that there would be an untimed down. Very weird.

Yeah, very little of it made sense to me. I didn't know they could even review that penalty situation, I don't know why they were when no flag was thrown originally, I don't know how they DIDN'T throw a flag on at least one of those blocks which was quite blatantly a block in the back. At one point he came back to announce the decision, then stammered, said "..we'll still look at it" and went back to the headset.

Oh well. Halftime of the Stanford game, the guy says the ACC officials were terrible and botched tons of calls, yadda yadda.

The block at the end was iffy, the guy's helmet was infront of the defender's hip. The one back on Miami's 30 yard line was pretty obvious. Whatever.
