I heard similar, but don't have any detail. Something was discovered and they had no choice but to let him go, gave him the option to resign.

Totally agree. I think he was playing so much because of his position coach, and now the new HC put an end to it.
(Obviously, just speculation)

Seems like the OC would have say in pt way before the position coach would.
