And your point? So you think he should have also gone to jail? I thought the A stood for Atlanta. My bad...:bfd:

I think point was that a lot of the people who read it and see it as being GT being bad are those who have really low standards for behavior.

“... knew the consequences of failed drug tests, but said it was difficult to stop.”

And the chorus of “but alcohol “ jumps in missing the point.

You can, in life, choose which rules to follow. You can not choose the consequences.

If you drink too much you will pay.

If you use drugs you will pay.

Right. Except marijuana isn’t a drug

Something that you ingest to alter your mental state and which is legally classified as a drug isn't a drug?

What's your definition of "drug"?

Guys, this is a fluff piece about a guy who makes nothing but bad decisions. He clearly has bigger issues and, sadly, I would be more surprised if he didn't end up back in waycross on the street.

Well if the government says so, then never mind, I agree

My point was that the AJC chooses to right a long article about a GT player who got kicked off the team for marijuana use, but when it comes to writing much at all about GT football, there is very little attention given to Tech in great contrast to the pages and pages of Dwag articles. The A stands for Altanta, not Athens. And how many articles do we see about UGag players getting arrested for the same reason? Although, it happens a lot, not many because they don’t get kicked off the team.

Okay, forgot about the government. What's your definition of "drug" that doesn't encompass marijuana?
I'd say highly addictive and essentially poisonous to your body qualifies. Alcohol checks both boxes. Marijuana neither

Some people don’t see marijuana as a drug because it is not a pharmaceutical or is not processed to a high degree. Peyote, mushrooms, and coca leaves would also qualify as drugs that are not drugs under that definition.

Shifting the argument on marijuana legality to a semantics debate is pointless and a stupid tactic. There are several compelling arguments for legalization, but "it isnt a drug" is not one of them. Being on a tech board, I expected a breakdown of THCs biochemical effects on the body with white papers to back it up not an argument so poor that it concedes defeat by the time it's been typed. Sheesh.

Welcome to StinGTalk. Disappointment is our specialty.

the article seems to refute this. even if it is not chemical dependence, it is absolutely very difficult for a lot of people to stop using.

This is what I see as well. Nothing in the story points to any good path for him. Very unfortunate.

I won't wander into the "should weed be banned" discussion, but Tech should absolutely allow players kicked off the team for substance abuse return. If someone faces a demon, overcomes it, and returns, that person is better off for the experience. In fact, Tech should actively recruit those types of people.
I’m not invested in the weed issue but I guess some think that’s what we already do, cuz you get those two strikes before you’re really out.

I agree! We shouldn't have that rule for marijuana use. Given how many close games we lost last season, I can't help but think having Mills grind out an extra .5 YPC might have made the difference between a W and an L in at least one of those games. The goal of our football program is to win games and having a talented kid tossed out for unnecessary rules that have no bearing on our academic or athletic reputation is senseless.

Under the rules, he had to go. But we shouldn't have had those rules in the first place, and we certainly shouldn't have them now.
LEGALIZE IT!!!
