Bill Curry loss to Furman in 1983, which is similar to the Citadel loss probably the worse loss on the Flats, but man Clown loss to VT 0-45 at Bobby Dodd was pretty bad. Honestly this whole year has been Geoffcollinesque...Aflac Loss, BG Loss, Ole Miss loss....BG is a really tuff loss because....The problem seems to be coaching... Key and staff hasn't coached up the players (same issue under Clown era)... Did you see the AFLAC KO game? Gave up 26 point lead to lose... BG we were up 14 and give up 38 points.... Same theme from Week 1 we saw in Week 5... Zero team growth or getting better..Typically teams get better as the season progresses...

Now lets be real, B. Key may be able to get Tech to 3, 4, or 5 wins this year.... But that is not going to cut it for a fan base that was at 48K in the Paul Johnson era (3 ACC title game appearances & two Orange Bowls) and currently at 30K this year.... It is only going to get worse (25K??) until we can get a HC hired that can get Tech back to winning an avg of 6 & 7 games every year. Clown Collins hire was a mistake made by one person, Todd Stansbury (and one booster John Dewberry who pledged money). The Key hire was made by a collection of people and Good Old Boy culture who overruled the new AD (J Batt) behind closed doors, enamored by 8 weeks and the fact that he was “one of us.”

The New AD has moved on to corporate dollars and hired outsiders and it’ll probably be for the best. The AD may have to do that at head football coach in a couple years. Season tickets are at 30K, and the football program is still complete **** show outside of the new OC, OL coaches, and years from competing for an ACC Title and a few years from being able to win 7 games a season.

What makes all this worse is that Paul Johnson wanted to retire after the 2016 season. AD Todd Stansbury begged Paul not to to retire to give him more time to hire someone...(CPJ coached two more years out of respect to Georgia Tech and the institute) It is mind boggling that Clown Collins and his Associate Head Coach B.Key are the ones that AD Todd Stansbury & John Dewberry have trusted to run the program. The only question is how long until the new AD, J Batt can get a real HC in place?

öööö this thread.
I actually thought of you last week. I was at GT representing my company at an ME career fair. There were lots of new brick-accented sidewalks that weren’t there back in the day.

I was at that game. Their coach eventually went on to be HFC @ NC State, iirc.
That was my first year as a cheerleader. When it became obvious the FU students were going to storm the field we were told to try to keep them getting over the fence.

I figured if my team got such a huge upset I’d storm the field too. So I just got out of the way and let them go.

I've seen the bricks in the sidewalks that I know aren't old enough to bear Robbins' touch - he's been gone over 30 years. It always makes me smile.

Clyde's legacy lives on.

I don’t blame you. That’s not the cheerleaders job.

You just very successfully cherry-picked two data points, the 1st game and 5th game, because they fit your narrative. The reality is that we had leads that we did not relinquish against SCSU and WFU, and we never led vs. Ole Miss.

What we need to grow out of is the tendency to go to sleep for entire quarters. Sometimes that costs us games, other times not, but it’s a bad tendency.

Well, it wasn’t like an official thing. Just some manly men on the sidelines who thought they would do the manly thing and protect their honor, or something.

I just figured they deserved to storm the field.

99% of the people who storm a field don’t have any ill intent. They basically just run out there and jump up and down and yell like they are having some kind of fit. Then they realize what they are doing and peacefully leave the stadium.

App State - Michigan
In retrospect, that upset wasn't as bad as it seemed at the time. App St was in the midst of a three year run as 1-AA national champs and although we didn't know at the time, Michigan was about to start a 10 year downward spiral until Harbaugh came along. They also had some NFL talent on that App State team like Armanti Edwards and Corey Lynch. That 07 team could have beaten 3/4 of the 1-A teams that year. Very similar to what North Dakota State has done since then. They have gone up and beaten several FBS teams in the past few years.

In their defense - and I have never defended Collins nor will I - they saw Collins as something different at the beginning. He said all the right things, as far as they were concerned, even though much of it was utter BS, as our own impeachment inquiries discovered later.
Now we know at the end, there was nobody defending him. Or at least very few.
For any of his defenders starting with the 2022 season, they are fair game, because the end of 2021 should have made it clear this clown needed to go.

It was clear when we lost to the Citadel, as it should be clear when we lost to Bowling Green. Not the guy.
