Key should make the players wear their practice jerseys for games until they play better.

45-0 vs UGA capped off the 100-0 combo with ND, but the most embarrassing part was how we were clearly never trying to win. Not even really trying to avoid a shutout. We were running clock in the first quarter, to make the blow out seem slightly smaller. That was the utter rock bottom of embarrassment.

The fact we even have a poll for this is alarming
Several of us weren't duped by clown. I'm not sure what to make of Key. I wanted the whole regime out. Re-todd, clown, Key, Thacker, pnut and re-pnut. The whole staff and GTAA wiped slick.

We chose to retain Key. He does not act like clown BUT he was #2 as AHC, so obviously he didn;t have the final say but how much clocning was going on he was ok with. Doesn't look like much but he still has the clown stink on him.

This loss and the way it happened makes you go hmmm. Unprepared, no energy, no halftime adjustments after you got whipped, no post half energy. No pride.

Coaches should have been in players grills. The pine should have been stacked with inattentive players. Players that wanted to play in the game and those going thru the motions on the sidelines. Where was the fire?

I was ok with Key. I understand the thinking and how we ended up with him. I want to support him, but damn he can't do öööö like last Saturday. It was just clown show II the rerun. Miami better be a whole different level of effort and I better not see that öööö again otherwise I may join the ranks of those and sit and wait until GT starts taking football seriously again.

This reeks to me of a situation where, years from now, we're going to hear stories about it having been one of the player's birthdays and the whole team was out partying until 4 am and sneaking around curfew or some stupid öööö like that.

I'll also point out that our home record has been terrible for a while and we need to get some defend this house energy.

I think Key has made some good choices on offense. The team looks better prepared than under the clown by a long shot.

But this was Key’s second flop against a bad team. Last year’s flop against UVa was bad. It’s very possible that BG will keep us from a bowl game this year. We aren’t missing bowls because our schedule is too hard. We are missing bowls because we can’t take care of bad teams. Good teams like Utah or Iowa don’t sleep on bad teams. They put them away and keep grinding. Pitt generally falls in that same boat.

I honestly thought that the FSU and UVA games last year would keep him from getting the job. I'm still holding out hope that Key can get things turned around but I'm losing faith. In retrospect, I still wish we would have went ahead and pulled the trigger on Chadwell, especially if J knew he had the upcoming Hyuindai deal in his back pocket. Let Chadwell hire his top notch staff, purge the last remnants of the clown from the Flats, and start a new era. Looking at where he is now, he has Liberty at 4-0 with a win over, yep Bowling Green.

Bowling Green is not the same as the Citadel...
Yea, Bowling Green plays a much simpler offense to defend. We practice against it all week. Ohio dominated them. Citadel was used to getting 300 yards per game rushing.

I already forgot about that. Now have to go look up the video.

Citadel is an easy pick but I picked Clemson instead. The magnitude of the score and the fact that they kept putting in backups including a punter at QB just made the whole program feel hopelessly and endlessly uncompetitive.
I voted for this one too, principally because it's a league game against an opponent we should know and be prepared for.

Clemson was the worst because of exactly what you said. We weren’t that far behind Clemson’s C team. Our players either quit in that game or they were coached to fail to make a statement. Either way, we looked like we weren’t a serious program.

We haven't been a serious program since the serious coach retired. The clown was anti-serious in every way. Key seems serious but this recent game refutes that severely. He talks aggressive but plays not to lose when ahead.

Never a fan of Clown to start with, especially with his revisionist history. ("When I was growing up, we were going to bowl games every year." No, we weren't. From the time he was 7 until he was 18, Tech went to exactly one bowl game. One.)
There have been intimations that Texieira talked Key into staying instead of taking another job (South Carolina, maybe?)
The team is better prepared under Key, but that is still a low bar since it looked - and apparently was, if you believe what the Georgia player said - completely and wholly unprepared.

Didn't some of the fat cat genteel boosters object to PJ's getting into his players' faces when they goofed up?
Wonder how they feel about Key slapping down the mike part of Thacker's headset last Saturday when he got up in his bidness?

That's not really what happened, but I've been surprised there hasn't been any discussion of this. That was the second time Key got into Thacker's face. The first was in the defense's circle of chairs. He jumped on all the defense and then chewed out Thacker before he left.

On this other occasion, Key was screaming at Thacker while holding his laminated page in front of his mouth. Thacker's headset was behind his ear at that point, but he adjusted it to cover his ear and put his mic down to his mouth. When he did that, Key grabbed the earpiece, pulled it off Thacker's ear and kept yelling.

There's also been some talk about Dontae Smith and why he didn't play. Some have said he was limited due to the injury. That could be, but when the offense was off the field (most of the game), Smith sat in a folding chair at the end of the offense, separated from the rest by Weinke and the QBs. When the team was on the field, he would go with the subs up the sideline, but stayed about four rows back from the coaches. Nearly the entire game he wore his helmet. He took it off with a couple minutes to go. Just after he did that, a coach came to him and said something in his ear. He came in the game just after that.

Didn't see the first time Key got into Thacker but on the second time, from our vantage point, it looked like he was hitting the mike part. We could see from our spot in the stands Thacker readjusting his head set, and then Key making an adjustment to his coach's adjustment.
Maybe the only adjustments anyone on the staff made all game.

the loss to bowling green sucked, but it is Key's first year as GT head coach, and his first season as a head coach period. I think he deserves some more time before we all just abandon ship. Yeah, Saturday sucked, but the season is still salvageable. Even if he is not able to salvage it, he deserves more than one season to right the ship. at least the man bleeds white and gold

You had some shot of convincing me til the end. Not only does "bleeds white and gold" mean jack ööööing öööö for winning games, but it seems to be weighing more on our hiring decisions then pesky things like "ability". After the past four and a half seasons, I am seeing this as something to be activity avoided, not applauded.

First season as a head coach ever gives him a shorter leash, not a longer one. We can't afford to be someone else's growing pains.
