My take on GT vs. MIA

miami has a d-line that is comparable to clempson in size and im sure athleticism as well which does not bode well for getting dwyer going

Just having the same size/speed players does not make them equivalent.

Bowers/Jenkins/Thompson/Sapp >>>>> Wesley/Robinson/Bailey/Forston

I think we will have better results against UM because of this.

agreed that size and speed arent everything, but its a huge component and not a completely bogus barometer when the mission is making the middle a logjam

The goal is to make the DE's commit to stopping the dive which opens up the TO. If the DE's don't commit to stopping the dive and the DT's can be blocked then we have Dwyer up the middle for big gainers.

The problem we hit when we played clemson is that their DE's were so fast and good that they could delay on committing to the pitch until after the fullback made his move and have the speed to recover to get back outside. We will not face a DLine that was the caliber of Clemson's again this year.

I don't know. I think the beauty of the TO is that it doesn't matter what the defense is doing so long as your O-line is blocking and your QB is making the right reads. We had to make adjustments last week because neither of those things were happening in the 2nd, 3rd, and half of the 4th quarter.

Yes but the right read you are talking about is the QB reading the DE. Because Bowers and Sapp were so fast on the outside they were staying home, so Nesbitt was 'correctly' reading that he should take it outside with the option, but they were fast enough to crash back outside when that happened, shutting us down.

Like was said before, our real turning point came when we switched the QB read from the DE read to the DT 'midline' read. Since the DE's were essentially nullifying Nesbitt's reads, we weren't getting any kind of yards. We switched to a DT read and eliminated the DE's completely. Nesbitt just started running it up the gut instead of outside on the option.
