ND Postgame Thread

True freshman quarterback starting his first game:

but, but, but., Clemson's roster ..blah, blah, blah
Sounds like a future Heisman contender. We'll see what he does next week against a top ranked defense.
Sure, the #1 QB recruit in the nation made some big plays throwing to elite talent behind a huge NFL OL. Is that supposed to be a surprise? He also botched a goal line handoff that resulted in a 99 yard fumble return TD for BC.

FWIW, Uiagalelei hasn’t looked great so far this season when he’s come in as the backup and played with other backups. I’m sure he’s gonna be a very good player, but throwing to open receivers when you’re confident you’ll have time is night and day different than what Sims is going through.

I’m not high on CGC and co right now, but Jeff Sims is FAR from our biggest problem. The big plays he makes show off his high potential, and if everything we hear about his work ethic is true, he’ll fix those mistakes going forward into the future.

Serious question, if we had hired CGC and the current staff in 2008, do you think we would have won the ACC Championship in 2009?

Same question asked differently, do you think the current staff could have won more games with Chan's roster than Chan did?
Johnson basically proved that he can take someone else’s roster and win more games than they could. I think he would’ve won 6-8 games with the past two rosters, and would’ve won at LEAST one ACCCG in 05-07 with those rosters.

The problem is that once that roster leaves, he can’t build it again. Collins looks like he’s a roster builder, so now he needs to prove he can actually coach.

.....

There's not an ice cube's chance in hell that PJ wins 6-8 games with 2019's roster. That's one of the reasons why he quit on us.

He won 6 in 2018 and was one game from winning the Coastal. Expecting him to do it again in 2019 seems pretty logical to me.

He quit because he was tired and winning 6-8 games was not his idea of fun. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to recruit the talent he needed to win 10+ again, so he hung em up. It was the best option for everyone involved.

I can generally agree with this sentiment, if four conference wins was the threshold for the Coastal title and we held tiebreakers. I think six wins was the absolute ceiling for that team throwing in the Citadel and Temple

No he didn’t and no he wouldn’t. He quit because he knew he cratered the roster and he wasn’t winning anymore.

if the 07 class was the same talent level as the four previous ones Johnson would have been shitcanned in 2013 after going 0-5 against uga with five years like 2010/11/12/13.

2013? You mean the time when people like you wanted him fired and said he would never win again? And then he won the Orange Bowl in literally the next season with one of the most efficient offenses in the modern era?

I’m not debating this again. You’re arguing against years of evidence because you didn’t like the man. Knock yourself out.

Do you think Brent Key is an upgrade over Sewak?

Depends on how you measure it. Sewak took an offensive line with lots of holes to fill and no experience running that offensive system; and had it operating as a unit the first year and was efficient yet still lacking bodies the second year. Brent Key seems to be a far better recruiter thus far; but the consensus here seems to be we are still 2 or more seasons away from a consistent offensive line.

I think we will see tremendous improvement next year but what the öööö do I know about OL anyways. :crazy2:

I'm watching the LSU vs. Auburn replay and it looks very familiar. Somebody must have left LSU's cupboard bare.
